Saw you near the swimming centre in North Adelaide last friday.
Looks cool on the road. Wish I still had my 65 square.

C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.

A random shot from the other day
I was shooting Bike Dirt Jumps so the colour was off and the camera was setup for something completely different, but makes the car look low!

Had some spare time today and made up a parcel shelf for under the dash, moreso so i have somewhere to put stuff when i have a passenger, although not
often...
First, got the required stuff to make a shelf from...
Then, i made the required modifications to make it fit, and one helluva mess at home to go with it...
And finally, using one of the best inventions ever, fix it in place

So, Saturday on the way to work the engine decided to leave its contents on the road... So i walked to work to deal with it afterwards. 45 minutes for
RAA to turn up and tell me what i allready knew, that it needed to be towed home, then another 1.5 hours for the truck... we have our Suspicions of a
Cracked Crank Shaft, possibly a cracked crank case, whatever it is, the motor is dead!
So the car is being pulled off the road to be rebuilt. The body is being split from the pan, any and all rust fixed, will get a new motor, new
gearbox, re do the brakes, with a completely new look! Might put some carpet and stuff in it this time round, i have a concept of what i want the end
product to be, now to make it happen...

The idea's have been flowing that's for sure, i have a list of things as long as my arm for this rebuild!
Might need to sell the plates to fund it, or find some kind of sponsorship!

Enough to rebuild the car the way i want it!
But seriously, the plates aren't going anywhere, they belong on a 1970 Square and will stay there!

Might as well share my plans on this build.
(fingers crossed this works and isn't too big....)
I think im going down this route. No idea what wheels im going to put on it yet. If i need to run adapters or change the stud pattern on the car to
get the wheels i want, i will
Body off the Chassis, Fix all the rust, make it mint, relocate the fuel filler, fill all trim holes. Nice White paint, i have an idea what White i
want to use, just need to check costs and stuff. Will get a new heart, rebuilt box, some new interior goodies. The door trims will stay, ill just tidy
them up a bit, make the handles fit and look proper. Will probably loose the sun visor on the front, and the rear venetian, and I have a few other
idea's up my sleeve too!
Go ahead, Flame me, share your views, whatever you want... To be honest, I'm building this for me, not for anyone else...

Your individualism with your Squareback has always been, well inspirational!
It was and is going to be possibly the most unique car I've ever seen.
Bummer about the engine, was there any other reasons/factors affecting the crankcase splitting? Autopsy would be interesting
I personally like the new plans for it.

Can't wait to see the progress. I like most of the looks you posted above - but then again I loved it the way it was before too. Either way - as you
said, you're building it for yourself. Best of luck

Thanks mate, good to hear are inspired by it! I find it odd logging into some forums and seeing people post my photos of my car in threads about cool
VW's!
As for the engine, no idea, i haven't actually had any time to do anything with it since it got put in the carport. Ill take the battery out of it,
might have a use for it, and it will be put aside until i have a spare day or so to start pulling things out of it.

I cant wait to start making some progress. I'd love to keep it as it is, but there are too many satin/matt black cars getting around these days, time
to try something else.

Ok, update time... No photos... Got some surprises up my sleeve, but ive been slugging away, still no idea what went wrong with the motor, havn't
pulled it apart yet, in fact, i havn't dropped it out of the car yet... Should probably get around to that!
If all goes to plan, ill be back on the road within the month... The complete new engine is a little way off, but i know the approx pricing, and whats
being done to get it back on the road. Might just strap another heart in, in the meantime and get myself rolling in the meantime!

Ok, so some people will be aware whats happened at my place of late, others, probably not so aware. But there has been a MASSIVE change of plans...
I did have another wagon i was building to drive while the panel van was rebuilt, but i kept finding rust, the bottom of the drivers door was
COMPLETELY gone! An absolute bargain came up as well, and I've bought a 59 beetle, so the panel is going back to Daily Driver duties, and this means
what exactly, well, heres some pics!
The replacement heart goes in tomorrow, removed from the wagon to give the panel some new life, as for the beetle, y'all just gunna have to wait and
see

Cheers mate, its going a bit more Low Key at the moment, just needed to change it up a bit to keep myself sane...
So as it sits now...
Engine Change is complete, it just wont start, no idea why, got a mate coming around next Tuesday to suss it. I'd do it this week, but i have two Uni
exams on Monday and im doing my best impersonation of someone studying...
A few more tweaks on the exterior and i'll leave it at that for a few months. The wheels need some paint, no idea what im going to do, I've had red,
I've had Fluro Orange, tested metallic charcoal, and its just too dark, got a few idea's, will see what they come up like and decide then.
The Beetle... Well... Its still sitting there, nothing has changed at the moment, been trying to focus on getting the panel running again. Once that
back to daily driver duties, the Beetle gets the attention, well, more attention anyway...

Hope the exams go well ... been there, done that, poor bugger - at least you've got something to break the monotony of study
Once you're clear of exams post some pics on the beetle .... the suspense is killin' me!
Best of luck
