Coming on nicely Steve... Any reason why you didn't flip the coolant manifold?

Hey Steve,

Love to see another suby beast coming together....looks awesome.

Just a quick question..does your kafer cup style brace between the rear shocks get in the way of your dump pipe from the turbo.

I made my own bracing around the exhaust....just curious!

Cannot wait to get all of us together when your done for a cruise.

Hi Matt

The car is over at Westis now having the exhaust done, the cross bar shouldn't get in the way.

I cant wait to drive this thing, a get together would be great.

Hi Barry

The colour sort of divides opinions.

I picked it up from V Force in April 2003 it then sat in a friends shed at Picton until September 2004.

Its been a journey, built another bug for my son and I also suffered from Vertigo on and off for a few years, this has now been fixed.

Once I get the bug to a certain point soon, things will ease off a bit, I have really neglected some stuff around the house for the last few months, the plan is house stuff in the day and car stuff only at night.

Hi

Ricola, I didn't see the need to reverse the coolant manifold, most other conversions I've seen down here haven't bothered either, just one less thing that is modified.

Brad (aka Westi) from Westside Mufflers has been doing the exhaust and coolant lines.

It is all 3 inch stainless, there is a separate waste gate exit on the dump pipe, a high flow cat, a hotdog muffler and 3 inch dual bore muffler that Brad has welded a 180 degree end on, so the gases flow in one end, do a U turn and come out the same side of the muffler as the inlet.

Steve

Fantastic, like all the others I cant wait to see her up and running.

I drove past Westi's place today and saw the car up on the hoist in the corner and even at a distance, I thought 'Wow that looks F##ken great'. I'm talking about the car overall, not just the great work done by Brad.

Doing a great job Steve and I'm sure all the hard work (and money) will be worth it when you first put her in gear and go for a drive.

nice and neat.
not like mine.
I know its a bit tricky to fit a exhaust pipe in the back of a bug and make sure it don't hit the drive shaft when the suspension travels up and down & still be able to get spark plugs out.

Hi Rose

It will be on trailer tomorrow going up the F3. I'm not sure when it will be done completely, soon I hope.

I cranked the motor with no ECU power to get oil pressure, it then started straight up and just sat there an idled beautifully, hats off to Mr Subaru and Al up in Qld for the loom work.

I only had one drama, a hose that I thought was breather turned out to be a coolant hose, so I spilled a bit of coolant.

The cooling system bled really well, having an outlet on the top of the radiator really helped I think.

Hi

Just came in from the shed, another big night.

I have to do a few things before he will pass it, he's happy so far, the rear end just kept getting lower every time I put something on the car, I have reset it again, 3rd time lucky I hope. It looks a whisker too high but I have the 944 spring plates set on full high so I have a bit of adjustment top play with.

He did a noise test it was 99 dB, should be 96 dB, no air cleaner and no engine lid probably made it worse, I've also fitted a special flange gasket. I really thought that it would be OK noise wise as all I can hear is the fan belt.

The motor runs OK without the MAF sensor hooked up, I probably have a shopping list of error codes by now.

The G50 ratios combined with a heavy KEP clutch are not very good for getting the car onto the trailer.

Off to bed now, its 1.40 am here, another big day today then I have to go to work at 3 pm.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Steve, although there are a few little things to fix it will be better in the long run as you will know that it is all good and if you every get pulled over by those bastard coppers that you can just smile and tell them that it is all legal.

Hope you enjoy your day in the city and what a bummer having to go to work after all that :td:

Keep up the good work and the updates for us followers, Kev.
