Yeah, you're right Dave... the cam and followers are old friends, they go way back. What is new though is the crack we found in the case yesterday.... The case looked almost new and really didn't look to have done
many miles at all, Not happy. We really should have got it crack tested but it was in such good nick it didn't seem to be an issue... We have
repaired it with devcon (not the 4 minute liquid steel crap) and will be firing it up tonight to see if it fixed it. Hopefully it will at least get us
to warwick and we can deal with a new case later. Dave had it running so sweet yesterday too, purred like a really loud, angry kitten....

We have had good results with it twice, once where you tap for full flow and once behind the flywheel. 2 different engines. flogged the pants off both
engines off- road for years and they never leaked. I am hopeful we will have the same results, id rather try this than spend up to a grand on a new
case, machining and all... not to mention the time for Dave to build it all again. I know it may not be a permanent fix but it's all we got at the
moment.

The crack is on the front of the oil cooler mount, where it meets the case.... If you can picture it? so it's straight into an oil gallery.

Bummer Mick. Good luck. If it doesn't work, you still have 4 weeks!!! Plenty of time. I'm sure we'll be able to find you another case to work with.

Ah, not so good mate.... Not so lucky this time around. We have one more shot at the repair. We found there had been case savers put on the oil cooler
mount, obviously an attempt at fixing the crack by a previous owner of the case. But what we are going to do is make a longer case saver and seal it
in the oil gallery... if you know what i mean? essentially making a new oil gallery and sealing the crack from the inside. Dave is doing this during
the week so i'll know by the end of the week if i need a new case or not. Either way, Dave is set on getting this thing to warwick and says he'll
build it again if he has to. Just sux i may need a new case, not an expense i had budgeted for at this stage in the build. But if has to be done it
has to be done, no point in stopping now.

yeah, alright mate I get it. it's a shit thing to do but unless you are going to pay for my new case and re build the engine then I will take my
chances on at least trying to repair it. thanks for your helpful advice anyway.

Oh i have no doubt it'll get fixed, just how much it's gonna cost is the question I did actually think of getting it tig welded but i am unsure if it would need to be pulled down to be
welded anyway??

The news is good! We wanted to wait until we checked it again today before opening our traps! Leak has been plugged and we are goin' to warwick!
Although it's not really a permanent fix, it will get us to warwick and we can deal with the re-build after. The new case is on it's way next week
courtesy of a very generous Rod Penrose. We finally got to drive the car today and wow! its fast. a smile from ear to ear. Here is a video on daves
driveway.

Na, he is generally the test driver of all of our cars, we figure if he can't break it, we certainly cant! He deserved it after the massive effort he
has put in over the last few weeks with the dramas and all.

Yeah, more or less.. just little things to finish tidying up, windows to go in, running boards to go on, block off all the holes between me and the
parts that can catch fire! Should be bringing it home this arvo.
