Well after having to sit in the back of your car for a bit of extra weight to stop it from turning the tyres on the rollers I have to say that it is friggen loud inside as well!!

But man I just love the way your car pulls hard all the way to the limiter especially from 4500 to 7800!!! Sure as hell made my day!!

Big thanks to you mate for making the effort to tow your car up for the event and put on a great display on the dyno.

Cheers for the plug Dave ;)

You are right though, hearing loss is inevitable when exposed to those levels of noise! Look after it as once its gone its gone!

PS Well done on HP Dave.

I am still a bit sceptical on the power,
but the high RPM at which it peaks certainly is positive
being that the engine is medium to large swept volume.

I had planned to put the new engine in by now
but I still have not completed my R&D on this clunker.
If the clutch lasts at The jamboree (40 passes on it)on the 25th and 26th,
I will leave it in for Warwick.
Otherwise if the clutch is out....

I might make another set of FAT pushrods for the new engine also before running it.
I will see when I get that electrician organized on the lathe$!

Hello Matthew,
I have to bring three phase in from the street(about 25m)
and then down to the end of the house.
I have a guy who is coming this week(I hope),
and then I will be set.
It is a major job being that the house needs some upgrades as well,
but it will be great to have a lathe at home.

What is in your air cooled future?

Hi Westi,
yes, about 20 years worth of homework.

I actually chose my trade when I left school, rather than university, just so i could make my own Volksy parts.

Good Old Volksies!

At least you have a nice outlook into bushland when you are doing your machining dave - better than four walls and a little window (apart from the cold wind/rain (if we ever get it here in qld)).

I got a "Franna" crane to take it from the truck and place it exactly where I wanted it.
I paid him to lad up the truck and follow it to my place.
A couple hundred was cheap I thought.

Eventually I will close in the walls, but may use a roller door there so I can open up "the view"

Fitted a new toy to the car today.
Still working out how to make it work.
Information overload.

shame you didn't have the O2 sensor fitted for the dyno day. Would have been interesting to see what she does through the rev range.

Today I did some more tinkering with the Oxygen sensor and logger.
Yesterday there were some moments where my temple was throbbing
and the veins were ready to burst from my forhead,
but now all is sweet.

READ INSTRUCTIONS!

Well, that is not entirely my fault since most of this I had to find for myself.

It turns out the unit MUST be re-configured for METHANOL.
All the calibration is on the supplied CD rom,
but I had to program it upstairs and then re-install it in the car.

The other bit was calibrating the tacho signal.
I had to do this on the computer too,
but it took me an hour to find the 'jack plug' for head phones.

They supply a connector to go from your computer to the unit,
and the computer makes a buzz sound that simulates 2000 rpm.

Anyhow, once this was done yesterday,
it recorded the RPM but the Lambda was all over the place.
It started at an Oxygen level that was ball park,
but then went off the scale, and told me: "too rich".

'Innovate' has a forum and after three hours of searching
I came to the conclusion that the Bosch sensor was too far into the stream of gas,
which under normal petrol use should be fine, but this, and the methanol with its poor atomization,
put the sensor outside its temperature parameters.

Long story I know, but I added this piece to the threaded boss...

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n216/dangerous_05/Add-on.jpg

So that the probe does not protrude...

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n216/dangerous_05/NoProtrusion.jpg

And now it seems to work supoib.

The orange chunks are Hi-temp exhaust sealer from ther tail pipe flange.
To work best there must be no air leaks.

Here is a sample log that i took and scanned for your pleasure.

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n216/dangerous_05/FirstSuccessfulLog.jpg

This is just a section of what I logged.
The unit can store up to 44 minutes of data.

The GREEN arrow is where I put it on the 4400 limiter,
The RED arrow is on the 7000 limit two step,
and the BLUE arrow shows the Oxygen sensor Lambda when I shut the fuel off at the end of the log.
