They changed the plan slightly and routed the 3/4 side primaries next to the axle rather than up and over it. All primaries are 36 inches in length (only one varied by 1/4inch). By this arvo or tomorrow morning they will have finished the 4 into 1 collector and routed it into the muffler.

Pipework is all mild steel which will be HPC'ed. But from the flange (after 4:1 collector is made) onwards (including muffler) is stainless steel....pretty eh?

These brackets are to support the muffler but will be beefed up by exhaust shop before they are done.

Shot from the front - most of ground clearance has been maintained which is great. Heat proof sheeting will be applied to muffler to protect the fibreglass breast plate under crank pulley.

Finally a sneak preview of what the exhaust pipes will look like...I wanted some little dump pipes that will look something like this (in stainless too). Stay tuned for next updates.

Luckily Mrs Das is my high-school sweet-heart so she has known veedub projects were part of the deal since day 1!! Although she doesn't necessarily share the same enthusiasm (don't get me wrong, she does love veedubs)...she is very understanding and forgiving! I am very lucky.

I pick up the car in a couple of hours so will update more pics later today. :blush

Exhaust system is finished - was out of the car when I arrived at the shop so snapped some pics before the pipes are to be sent off for HPC'ing.

Another shot of the complete system - I can't praise Custom Exhaust Specialists enough on their workmanship...it was exactly what I requested.

Side view - upon closer inspection the guys determined more reinforcing to the muffler brackets was not required as it was held very securely with the brackets as seen in the pics.

This is where all the time (and $$) was for the muffler that was fabricated from scratch in stainless steel - the half moon cutout was required to clear the breast plate (crank pulley section). All up it took 2 days for them to complete the muffler alone (ouch $). My motto is always buy once and cry once (for best quality as possible)....I hate forking out good money for $hit products or services.

After leaving the exhaust shop, did a bit more fine tuning of the guards - laid down a guide coat (mist of matt black spray can stuff).

Used 400 grit dry paper to rub it back and find any more imperfections (only a few thankfully that required some glaze putty).

Here is the money pit as it stands today - just the right amount of negative camber (for my likes anyway).

On the left you can see what has been keeping us busy (along with the dub)....new concrete retaining walls all across the front yard in readiness for double carport (some day - just can't wait for the new driveway).

Once the guards dried, bolted them up rather than having them sitting around on the floor etc. Also will be used to figure out how much to narrow beam...width of spacers etc. (more ouch $).

Don't worry about all the gaps - only three bolts are holding the guards on for now.

Started fiddling with the engine bay today...nice change from body work! Cut the first bit of braided s/s fuel line and fitted it (firewall to regulator). Obviously this will all be coming out again before paint goes down.

Wide angle shot showing oil lines in place, oil temp/pressure sender relocation braided line etc.

Was going to put carbs in to cut the fuel line from reg to carbs but manifolds are away being HPC'ed with exhaust so that will have to wait.

As stated before, the forward-most cooling "tin" piece will be painted (still in primer) after some more holes are drilled to route the -10 breather lines (braided s/s) from valve covers up to custom breather box (yet to be constructed from s/s as well).

Its all in the details so they say....here is a bit of billet aluminium that I cut, shaped and polished to cover the holes the oil lines go through in the shroud. Took bloody ages but worth it (in my opinion anyway!). Not too bad for hand work, if only I had access to a CNC machine workshop :thumb
