Hey Alan, can I have a chat to you about the one piece windows at some point? I've got mine in and have been down at Clark rubber but I can't find the profile I'm after. I'd love to see a car all done and find out any handy hints you have after the job. To be honest I found this to be a tricky project to say the least, no info out there in the web.

Managed to make up some custom aluminium indicator brackets this morning - turned out pretty well and nice and stable.

Touch wood I'll have it registered ready for the show on the gold coast next sunday.

Engine bay is nice and clean (will make some covers for the holes in the breast plate shortly). I haven't had the time (or knowledge) to wire up the semaphores to work on 12V - someone with more time and autoelectrical skill could do it though :)

Seats and door cards are not brand new but are very tidy indeed. Headliner and carpets are new however (some mats are up front hence why the seam is in a funny place).

For anyone interested, the beetle will be for sale for $11,500 ono.

I feel this is a reasonable price given the amount of money spent on it, and the time involved in getting it to this condition.

It will be advertised elsewhere so if you know anyone who would like a super solid body off resto'd "looker" - better get in fast :)

I can also vouch for the quality of work put into all of Das's work and if you wanted a good reliable daily driver then this would be the one to buy.... Das wouldn't sell it unless he was happy with it.

Thanks heaps guys, your compliments are much appreciated!

Testament to your perceptions of the quality of detail, the beetle won Best Late Beetle at the Gold Coast show on Sunday! Very stoked :)

I ran out of time to buff out a few sanding scratches before the show but these will be buffed out shortly so the paint will be tip-top all round!

Cheers

Don't worry, there was more than a fair share of swearing and frustration throughout the resto! I guess that is what I am saving a potential buyer - lots of time and frustration! :P

Been enjoying a couple of miles in the beetle lately - nothing really to update apart from a few pics. Hopefully once it sells I can let this thread slowly slide away into the archives as I'm sure people are getting sick of this thread :o

No worries mate, I am an Audiologist (perform diagnostic hearing assessments and fit hearing aids and assistive listening devices). New company name is Pacific Hearing based at Helensvale (Westfield Shopping Centre), Gold Coast.

It will take a while to build up business but hopefully once its ticking along nicely (and once I sell this beetle) I can start the oval and/or splitty next.

Cheers guys - thanks for the compliments.

I'm not usually a huge fan of late models either but I think the wide 5 wheels and early blade bumpers improve the aesthetics (in my opinion anyway!).

Thanks.

So does anyone want a bargain? I'd love to hang onto this beetle but space and the new business (limited $) forces the sale sooner than later.

$9000 ono
