the planets to align where we all have a free weekend and a sprint exists.

Thanks to all those involved in the organizing of the event, We had a ball.
Rose kept on improving her times with every lap she did.
I imagine she could of done a little bit better with a driving lesson from one of the experience guys as it was Roses first time ever on a race
track, so she could of been shown the best way to get in and out of the corners . Rose had heaps of fun and the car is in one piece and to top off a
great weekend Roses race beetle got a 2nd in the show and shine on Sunday.
We will be back
Thanks Ian

Not sure how I'm going to go, because I dont breathe when I'm racing. Thats OK at Huntley because its only 27 seconds. Not too bad on a single lap
of Raleigh. I might black out with 5 minutes at Wakefield! It would be good if you could get the notch back on track within 12 months for Zane to get
a run... now that he has forked out for his licence n everyfink.

Great day, thanks to all that organised the event, it was awesome to see so many Volkswagens at one event and also people giving it a go for the first
time.
Stand out for me had to be Greg Mackie, 60's beetle, king & link pin front end, swing axle close box street tyres, 1835 and 1.15 lap times. This
guy has been racing beetles since 1961 and his skill driving a beetle showed. Proves that unlike drag racing you dont have to spend a fortune to be
quick, just practice, practice, practice.........inspiring stuff.
Jak finally with some good R spec rubber (not slicks)and big brakes gave him some well desrved good times 1.13. That beetle of Zanellos is an
absolute weapon and Rudy driving the wheels of his car. What a day!
.....now when is the next track day?
Cheers Paul

CT , Paul & I have never laughed so much, both at the track & at the show on Sunday. I still don't know what we were laughing at.
My Hero Paul Zanello pipped me by 2 tenths of a second. What a legend. 20+ year old race car with hard as rock rubber only driven once a year! please
don't sell it Mr Zanello!

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?23/05/2009.WAKE.S1 Provisional results, that need tweaking.
the mini only ran 1:09's, not the 1:06 listed on these results. The cars with missing info were late entries so no info was in the system.

that would be Rod......he had it all dialled in by the time i conned a drive out of him which made my drive easy.....i only did one session and had a
red insulation tape cross through the "18" on the sides........
...i don't remember much bar the red mist falling across my eyes and going past a hatch back?, an unkown (to me) beetle, Birchal, Sides,
Rosie.....umm a yellow beetle with v-force sticker and blue rear wing...........then off after the WRX, which held me for half a lap...... under
brakes, in the corners and coming out them.....but i worked hard and set him up coming into the last hairpin and pipped him on the line...........i
think, dunno, too much adrenalin.........i know i made both of us commit to going through the kink at the end of the striaght together, it was the
first time i went through there flat
yeah addicted, no doubt

I remember laughing, but I can't remember what at either? It could all be due to the lack of sleep and too much spanner work. Perhaps Paul remembers?
It's odd we're not that funny.
That was my first quote. Yay.
BTW well done Rod for building a reliable and pretty darn quick car in just 5 weeks. It takes most people years to achieve that.

standing next to rod and seeing him get all competitive! its a credit to both of you he being a drag racer and you putting together a great couple of
laps in an uknown car. by the way who owns the light blue ej20 powerd 1303?

CONGRATULATIONS TO CLUB VW SYDNEY AND RACE ORGANISERS
well done to all the organisers and flag marshalls on a superb event .
What a blast !! an excellent race meeting surrounded by fellow VW competitors .
I only managed to complete 9 racing laps and my 17 year old son Dean completed 10 , due to a fuel system problem that developed in the WPVW sports
sedan after filling the fuel cell with the new 102 octane unleaded racing fuel . A friendly warning to anyone who is contemplating using this fuel ,
it hates the foam that fuel cells and fuel tanks are packed with ( to stop fuel serge when cornering )and breaks it down to a fine foam powder . Steve
Muller also suffered the same problem on the day using the same fuel . This blocked the fuel lines and fuel filter on at least 4 occassions .
I had to nurse the sports sedan around the track , short shifting and feathering the throttle as the engine was fuel serging badly and I didnt want to
melt an engine . I was very pleased with the 1min 11sec time that I ran that left me 3rd outright behind the turbo charged sports sedan of Rudi'.
I am also very proud of my son Dean who had never driven a race car before , never been on a race circuit before , dealt with the fuel serge problems
and handled it all with much skill and maturity . Dean drove an excellent time of 1min 19secs .
Well done to Chris Bolton , who drove the WPVW formula vee ( with the smallest engine in the entire field at 1192cc ) to an outright position of 15th
out of 50 competitors and a time of 1min 15secs and well done to Ben Ford who also drove the formula vee .
To all other competitors , well done and thankyou all for making this such a good event .

Nah Dave, to your credit, i was pleasantly surprised , it took a little while to come round when we both opened the throttles out of the
hairpin.....that 1916 must not be too short in the power department
