the exhaust turbine housing is a 1.00 split pulse type . This is why the exhaust is designed the way it is , 1&3 had to be married together and also 2&4 .

IT IS ALIVE !!!!!!!

after 2 full days and nights of wiring and plumbing , the oval was fired up this morning and the ground shook !! It sounds great . The engineer came today to do the check over on the oval and it has FAILED its first inspection due to excessive noise . The noise meter showed 96dba @ idle and 110dba @ 3000rpm . I now have to do some exhaust homework before the weekend . The dyno at SOUTH-COAST ROTARY is booked now for friday . will post figures soon !!

That sound (not noise) would seem Ok to me.
My exhaust points toward the ground as does yours.
Some one claimed to me that this could be defected due
to blowing dust up - dont know if this is true- the engineer
didnt say anything did he?

Did the engineer say anything about the BOV. The engineer doing our wrx conversions had that as a necessity, and stated that it is illegal to vent them to air. I have heard of cars being defected for it...like you say, its only air!

Is your car pre-emissions? If it is venting the BOV to the atmosphere is fine.

My exhaust points at the ground too. My engineer didn't even mention it. All he could do was complement me on how quiet it was. :)

Its a shame that you cant do anything these days without people driving 100 miles to find some pathetic reason why you shouldnt do it. This thread has it all, right down to being able to replace water in the intercooler.

The only thing I didnt see argued against this car was the use of silicon sealer! How did you guys let that through? Dont you know it gets in everywhere and clogs strainers and gallaries and it'll never last.... Oh hang on, theres moly galore, different expansion rates, cant use moly pushrods especially. Maybe those two are reserved for my engine builds.

The 1916 folks think that poor old stan gets picked on. Wayne builds an unbeatable sports sedan and shit gets put on him. He builds a bloody nice cabrio (and drives it amongst coal trucks, I see it on the streets ALL the time) and gets shit put on him about it not being a real daily driver. Now he builds this car, which is an 11 sec showstopper and you people still havent given up.

Im dreading restoring my oval and having everyone walk past it complaining about the radials in place of cross plies and the head liner not being right, and how the colour is 'close but not quite right' because they all have a better one than mine right? A lot of people need to go shove their heads up their arses. Congratulations wayne, nice build up story, nice car.

I haven't seen any comments about the build quality... The only "so called negatives" have related to whether or not it is legally legal or not - I'm sure most of those comments only came because of the wording of the initial post.

Anyway... here it is off the line.

Pretty right Matt. I'm extremely impressed with what Wayne regularly does.

A bit of tunnel vision or selective reading.

There's no tunnel vision, no selective reading. I just see a lot of negative amongst the genuine enquiries. Not necessarily against build quality, although its there, but I never mentioned the words myself.

Many comments, 1 or 2 pages?, from amatuer lawyers about legality of registration and BOV's.
Taunts about gene berg trophy from more than one person.
The side plate wayne used, wont hold up.
The welded diff, wont hold up.
Comments about putting cold water in the intercooler is cheating. Laughable. No more cheating than fitting the turbo.
JakJones post about the shift rod bush bracket. Derogatory.

Matts comments re ports and iswinkels comments about the traction bar and intercooler. conceded these may be interpretations. I just dont think you should tell someone they need something, or how to do something they have already done before. I mean friggin hell. Who would have used stock ports on this. Someone with a lot of speedway and hillclimbing behind him, plus at least 20 years of vw service probably would have an inkling that a standard port wont flow too well. I think some people just like to see their name up in lights saying look at me, I know about this. But yes, I admit I may have selective reading in those posts.

Wayne said it would be "fully engineered and street regeristed" Looks like it is to me. Car looks great and does 11's.
