Hi Pete.
I have to say. You have done a fantastic job on your car. I remember reading an artical on it in one of the old australian vw magazines and loved it
back then.
The effort you have gone to to acheive such a top quality car that not only goes, but the attention to detail the car has recieved would make it hold
its own in any car show. Nice work, and look forward to seeing it on the track at the next Warwick event

After seeing Trents tin work on his rebuild of his race car , I had to better finnish mine with steped rolled edges .
With help from my daughter Brianna , I tryed to keep things very simple as I had never done this befor .
I'm happy how it turned out for back yarders . Have started on back tin but Brisbane hot rod show came to soon , put car back together ,then up to
show with Rods 48IDA bug .
All so more black flames to finnish concept of my new paint job .

Display looked great Pete and from what I have been told by some mates who went and called me tonight to tell me they saw your car was that most of
the people who were looking at the cars were genuinely impressed. My mate then mentioned that both cars run easy 11 sec passes and the looks on faces
was something to behold he reckons!!
Pete I'll let you spill the beans on the results of the show and how you fared against some really high quality cars.....

Apon looking at the cars in the classes that Pete was up against I honestly thought actually winning the category outright was a bit of a tall order
as a couple of the other cars were simply superb. But obviously the judges have somewhat of a soft spot for the Volksy and Pete scooped the pool yet
again.
Congrats again mate knowing the effort and late nights/early mornings that have gone into getting the cars ready.
Top Job!!

That really looks great Pete.
Seeing stuff like this and chatting with another dedicated beetle drag racer the other day gets me thinking whether it is worth taking the next step
to a purpose built drag car or staying borderline streetable... Problem being in Darwin in lots of ways I guess - away from all the action.

Changing over to methonal fuel as VP 14plus is now over $200 a drum (20ltrs) .Methanol 20ltr is about $65 a drum .
The cooling effect will help too (no cooling on race engine ) As Methanol burns about 2.5 times more then leaded fuel , I'm enlarging the bowl volume
with v8 holly bowl set up . Idea was past down from another vw racer many years ago ( Henry S ).
Have run Methanol years ago but have find tuned set-up . Starting with 300 main jet !
