Dave i'dd be a little concerned over the alternator bracket in that it is only supported on one side of the alternator pivot bolt which under big acceleration ( which is what drag racing is all about ) then the alt will want to flex and continually through the belt off .
Yes i'mm guessing your going to gusset the shaped 10mm plate back to the 3mm plate that bolts to the case BUT it will still flex through the single sided mount to the alternator

Nice Subie , so you got rid of the Skyline ?????

good point on the breather, I can probably incorperatte something into the bracket. I know there is heaps of stuff in the back now but it's just how things panned out.

The Alternator bracket isn't finished yet but it is quite strong without supporting both sides. I might have a bit more of a play with it.

No, still got the skyline for now, going to fix it up a bit then sell it.

And this is what I have bought in the last couple of days and believe me this hurt!!

The complete Breather system, polished tank, all -12 speed flow fittings and braid.

And the fuel system, all speed flow, -10 pre pumps -8 after running two 044 pumps (one into each rail) through two 100 micron s/s filters.

dave, im running two pumps as well but with run them to one rail first then across to the second and then to the fuel reg. Thats how i had it setup in the street car. Then you can run your return from the reg back to the tank.

My reg (which is in post) has two in and one out. So i'm going to run one pump to each rail then each rail back to the reg and then one out to the tank. Call me paranoid but as you all well know the last thing I want to do is starve this thing for fuel.

??????????????????????????????????????? the rain up here has been a big set back in regards to getting the tig welding finished, Its a possibility if dave pulls his finger out! I have been swamped at home with my own work of late so i have not really had time to go help him... plus he has gone back to work now too. If it gets there i doubt it will be competitive but she might see the track.... Dave will make the call. I told him to drag it down anyway as its starting to look the biz, interesting to look at.

Hey guy's, as Mick said work has hit quite hard right when I didn't want it to! Luckily the frame is off having it's final welds done, I should have some time when it returns to paint it then assemble the whole car, wire it then off to Aaron's to get it running then on to the dyno!! Woohoo! So here are some pic's of the progress over the past few weeks.

This is the fuel system described earlier all mounted.

Here is the alternator bracket being finished. We added a -12 breather pipe underneath the alternator then made a support behind for strength plus now it's supported on both sides of the top mount.

This is Dad's fancy custom oil filler tube/turbo drain. It started off just a filler tube with the temp sender in the bottom of it then we decided to run the turbo drain into the side of it with a -12 fitting. It enters just above the oil level but dumped straight onto the temp sender so we moved it down into the sump and we have also added a -8 breather to the top of the tube to prevent any air lock while the turbo is draining.

Here is the Rotary crank angle sensor/vw distributor. First we cut the bottom of the cas off and trimmed it down a bit also, then we cut the bottom of a vw distributor off and machined out the cas to take the piece of vw distributor. We then worked out the shaft was 60mm too long but we couldn't just cut the end off because only about 30mm of the end of the shaft is a bigger size for the bush in the bottom of the casing. Long story short we had to cut 60mm out of the middle then drill out one side while machining the other down to fit inside. We then braised it back together. All we had to do then was drill a hole in the shaft and fit the vw drive. I think it come out tops!

We thought we would use the old fuel pump hole as another -12 breather so Dad knocked this up which should do the trick!
