I guess it's time to reveal that the green car pictured above is actually Steff's. Not mine but still quite the beast though.

That happened on Saturday.
Ok. I give in.
I'm not holding off any longer cause I really want to show you all the colour on the car.
This is in Steff's workshop. We sanded every surface again in readiness for paint. And Steff fixed up some of my bodgery with finishing filler and
stop putty.
Bonnet, front guards, doors and engine scoop got first go in the booth.
First all the parts were given a light coat of primer sealer. Which, funnily enough, also happens to be blue.
I'll put up pictures of the body ready for paint then all the colour photos.
Body all sanded and ready to go into the booth.
We thought it best to lift the body off the pan to prevent any overspray.
Body painted with the primer sealer.
Doors, bonnet, front guards and scoop painted in the blue.
Body with rear guards and the glovebox lid wearing the blue.
That crazy character Steff. He did an impressive job!
Thanks again mate!!
First shot of it out in the sun.
And got her back home safe and sound yesterday just after lunch.
Let the work commence!!
Pulled the nosecone and front guards off. And wire-brushed the wheel wells, firewall and under bonnet area.
More of that sweet sweet POR15 goodness.
Last night I also fitted the new flexible front brake lines.
Today I pulled the transaxle back off the floorpan and put the dust boot on around the right way. I also put a little sealer around the edge.
I put the axle boots on and reinstalled the gearbox with new fine thread bolts on the springplates (thank you Andrew)
Also fitted a new bowden tube and shimmed it to correct bend and the dust boot over the cables where they exit the pan.
Then filled it full of oil.
I also installed a new rear main seal in the gearbox. I was having a lot of trouble removing the old one so I made up a hook for my slide hammer and
it was out in seconds.
New one installed.
And I thought While I was going I'd throw the engine and starter motor in.

cant beat a blue baja!.........what is the colour called (although i think i know already)
turn the join on the axle boots round to 45 degrees.....too much flex on the joint when they are hirizontal or verticle
AND you cant possibly put that engine back in without detailing it.......would be a great shame
terrific work agin

The wheels don't move forwards or backwards so there is no flex acting on the join when they are horizontal.
I have no idea what the colour is. Steff just had a bunch of colour chips there and I picked one
Plus the engine might get detailed. Just not straight away. I'm aiming for registered by the 7th. Which is next Friday! So I'm just doing the
essential things to pass roadworthy and rego first.

1600 singleport. With stock carb.
Power - Buggar all
But it's reliable as hell, and was decent of fuel.
Plus it turned the big wheels offroad and pulled a little trailer ok so it was all fine by me.

It seems like I spent the whole day running around to Repco and other places buying bits and pieces. So I don't have a lot to show for today's
work.
Finished painting the wheel wells and firewall area.
I made up the last of the rear brake lines, but in doing so I discovered that the tool I've been using has been putting the wrong flare onto the
ends. Comparing it to an old line off the car they are quite different. So I'm going to head over to Rocky tomorrow and visit one of the brake shops
and see if they can fix them for me.
This meant pulling the main line that runs to the back of the car back out. Which was a real pain because I'd painted it into places. One of those
ten steps back one step forwards deals.
I also painted the underside of the mudguards and the inside of the nosecone.
The latter of which I spread some sealer on the edges and bolted it on with some new stainless allenhead bolts. Looks pretty!
I've also got all the body mounts bolts ready and painted all the little plates that go underneath. I'm planning to put the body on tomorrow now.
But I have to get the brakes sorted out first.

Because of you, i woke up this morning and seeing how good weather it was, said, why the heck not. Did a days work and half the interior has Brilliant

The up and down motion only effects the joins if they are vertical.
I just did a search and everyone was saying to put them either facing forwards or backwards. But not up.
45° is still half vertical. Which is going to half stress the boot.
I'll see how they go. I never had any trouble with the old ones and they were both mounted facing towards the rear. And the car got royally flogged
most of the time.

The oil inside hardly see's the joint when it's at 45, main thing is to push the small end of the boot towards the g/box so there is no tension on
the boot as the axle moves through it's travel.
Nice work on the car too.

So I got the brake lines sorted in Rocky today. But didn't get home until 4 this afternoon.
So I put them all on first thing.
Then I started getting everything ready to put the body on the pan. Put the body to pan seals on, got all the bolts lined up ready to go.
We dropped the body onto the pan. Then, disaster struck. Seems that bugger all of my sill bolt holes line up. We pulled the body back off. I'm going
to have to diegrind them out a little larger so I can get things to line up.
Also the four bolts that go in the underside at the front don't line up at all. They are way out. Whoever built the framehead built it with the
Neapolitan's hat section out of wack to the rest of the framehead. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to even grind these so they will go in at
all.
It can't all be smooth sailing, hopefully I can sort things out tomorrow in the daylight.
