I agree with you on Michael Nesmith Jen,although the Monkees were just afew years b4 my time i'd watch reruns in my teens & thought he was a TOTAL babe....yum.:kiss
I have a zillion crushes on heaps of guys,i'm a total perve...mainly guys in bands. My 2 faves are Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters(prev. Nirvana) & Paul Dempsey from the band Something for Kate.I could listen to Paul all night & to go & see him play is my absolute fave thing to do.Once at a gig my friend got him to dedicate the set to me for my birthday & i was in Heaven!!:kiss
Yes sad isn't it.............i can't help myself.

Yes Rob you're right,Erika is a total babe.Good to see a guy that likes a classy woman & not someone like Paris Hilton...:puke

Hey Rob

what bike? I just looked at a second hander today (import from Japan), 750 cruiser for out the door $4k. I reckon its not too bad, except I'll really have to get a wannabe harley jacket to make up for it.
I have a BSA getting worked at the moment but wouldn't mind one that I could ride after dark and possibly if it was raining as well. The cruiser suits me for two reasons, the sitting position is almost the same as my BSA and I am short, so I can put both feet flat on the ground with this one.

I think I need to shift house though. I already have the type 3 at work (living there now for the short term), the bug in bits in the garage, the subie in the drive and the BSA about to come home.
maybe I need a garage as big as the house???

Got an old BMW had it 20 years now, great bike, she's taken me all over australia. I used to tour all the back towns of NSW and VIC, in the late 80's - 90's, didn't do much of QLD but now I live closer I will start. Done countless rallys over this time, it's funny the the rally scene has had a bit of a resurgange lately, there are a lot of the old back to basics rallys comming back, no catering bands or any of that, just the good old camp fire and making your own entertainment. I am writing a book about motorcycle touring, might get it published one day!
If you want a good reliable old runabout, an old 80's model R80 (800cc) or R100 (1000cc) would be a good choise, they do have high seats, but im 5'7" and I cope with it OK. you could get a roughy for around $3500 or a good one for $5000. be warned! once your bitten by the BMW boxer bug, its like owning VW's you become obsessed, they really are that sort of machine, they have the same cult status as the Beetle! Another plus is basicly they are an aircooled boxer engine, the same as our beloved VW's.

Ahhh
but its at least got a boxer in it (VW link..... and Subie as well as a few other makes)
If I went for a BMW though I would want an old one, prefereably 40's early 50's at worst though. I want to get a combination set up and would love a WWII type/style one. What club do you belong to or is it just a group of mates?
As for snow, Zac, an old VW beetle will go a lot further than most front wheel drivers (not sure about new beetles or other VW Types). Used to work in snow and the wieght over the axle and good tyres used to get me further than most before I had to resort to chains. Usually about as far as most city only drivers in their 4WDs. A good 4WD driver would get further though.

Hi Man
Still a financial member of the BMW owners club Brisbane, but not really active, too much politic's in clubs these days, not into that! You can get an old R50-60/2 for around $5-6000. but they are a bit of a hassel to get bits for and there is a bit of an art in working on those motors, They were individualy put together by a skilled fitter (engineer) there were more than three different size's for pistons big end's ect from the factory, and everything was custom fitted/machined. The R60-75/5 (60's-70's models) are a much better proposition, and the /6 or /7 models are better again!
parts are easily available from a multitude of suppliers australia wide. and I know of a couple of workshops that are very good. If your really interested in one I could possibly find one for you. There is one QLD business that you should steer clear of, if you want to know more I will U2U you about them. The best BMW mechanic I know is Ray Peak, has a well deserved reputation Australia wide, PPL from all over the country go to him to work on their bikes.

Cool,
thanks Rob. Am looking at geting the cruiser just for daily stuff as the BSA sin't really a wet weather or night time ride... well, not one that I would want to do anyways (6 volt, lord of darkness headlights that actually suck in the light from in front of you).
the BMW was/is a dream for when I have the money. Always liked the look and sounds (the odd ones I have heard) of them. They do look better than the allied WWII ones.
Oh well, maybe I should just stick to my VWs and other toys :)
can't tell I am single can you!!
