Non VW Rodeo Ute up in flames

This happened last weekend, the owner parked at a friends went in for a cup of tea. Luckerly another person spotted it and the fire was put out!
She did not leave the key on and had driven it from cold for less than five minutes, basically around the corner! Is this common for modern-ish
vehicles, old Vw's maybe but a late model vehicle surely not? She is well and truely stuffed!

One of my old workers had one the same.

It was the battery that started the fire in his case.
