on early cars there weren't any 'normal vw' antennas..
they were fitted by the selling Dealer.
so many early antennas were just generic antennas used on many cars..
they had two mounts.. one at the bottom and another higher up.. the higher one could be put at any distance.. as it was just an insulator.. slid
along the antenna.. they could be placed on either side, [on the panel before the door]
they were usually fitted so the antenna slanted to the rear..
the degree of slant was decided by the mechanic with the drill who drilled the two round holes... lol
Later model beetles had a hole with an aluminium plug in it near the bottom LHS corner of the windscreen...
this was a specific VW antenna...

Ok well mine has a retro fitted old corolla one on the a pillar area... and i want it to be like the OG ones on the gaurd. So the early kind ^^

There were genuine Volkswagen Australia aerials. Late 60s were single mounts.
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.
Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!
