Wanted: 1800 bellhousing+input shaft
I have a worn out 2L motor with a 2L gearbox. I have an offer for an 1800 engine in good nick, but I need the parts to get the 1800 motor onto the 2L
gearbox. Apparently its the bellhousing and input shaft that I need.
Does anyone have a spare of these? Hoping for something under $200 (am I dreaming?) or a trade for some 2L parts - e.g. heater boxes, tinware,
alternator, carbys.
I'm in Redcliffe, QLD. I can come pick up if needs be.

Put the 2L flywheel on the 1800 motor and set up the end play. That should be all you need to do.
Or the 1800 engine will bolt straight up the to 2L gearbox as the 1800 and 2L are both type 4 engines so the input shafts are the same. Not sure which
starter to use.
please correct me if I'm wrong anybody

just a flywheel change as said ..228mm , starters are different and bellhousings are different 1800 same as 1600

I must admit, I'm a bit confused.
I have been told the input shafts are different lengths (~20mm different), so I would need to change that. Then someone else said I also needed a new
bellhousing. Then another someone else said I would also need a new starter.
I have also seen (as mentioned here) that I can just change the flywheel (+clutch I assume). So that is as simple as a new main end seal, endplay
shims and a set of feeler gauges (for endplay)?
I could probably handle that...

If you change the bell, the input shaft will need to be changed too. As said, the easiest and cheapest option would be to swap the 2 litre flywheel
onto the 1800 engine. Job done. BUT MUST RESET/CHECK CRANKSHAFT ENDFLOAT. New seals would be wise too.
A dial indicator with magnetic base is best instrument to check endfloat.
