Engine choice

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, so go easy on me. After some thoughts on an issue I'm having. I have a 64 beetle that has a 1300cc engine thats getting a little tired. I have acquired a 1600cc single port bare motor, that I'm not a 100% sure of its condition, and also have just been offered a 1500cc complete good running engine. Not quite sure which way to go. have been getting mixed information as which is best.
Had a thought of turning single port 1600cc into a twin port, maybe using as a base for a bigger capacity engine.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, as I am new to vw's

P.S. car is used daily, freeway & suburban driving.
Cheers Michael

I use a 1500 single port as a daily,
It will do 80mph and return almost 7lt per 100km on highway and about 11 around town,
Excellent little motors
And you can't beat that sp sound
