Common Schwimmwagens

We have had three Schwimmwagens brought in containers so far to work. They must be pretty common. One of them didn't have the propeller, but the other two did. The collector gets some very interesting cars.

There are a few places in europe that always have them for sale. But as above, you need the cash.

How many complete Schwimmwagens are in Australia? I can only think of two - the one on the cover of VW Power in the '90s, and Ray Black's one.

The private collector that we clean up cars for has three schwimmwagens. Two are complete with props.

He has a large dam that he regularly drives his amphibious vehicles in. He also has a Steyer Puch, two Haflingers that I know of. He has about 300 vehicles.

I remember an article in People magazine in the early/mid '80ies about a Schwimmwagen somewhere in OZ. I seem to recall a photo of it in the magazine and I think it had some kind of home-built boat-like canopy on it. Also I seem to remember the owner was not interested in selling as he had turned down some guy who offerd a Jag in exchange. Enyone here remembers the article or knows of the car?
