More late night fantasies
I wish there was decent things to watch on TV to occupy my mind instead of adding to the endless list of rainy day projects.
I'm sure you have all seen the fridges painted up like splittie kombies. Obviously it just wouldnt look right doing it with a square edge modern
fridge. And it would be tragic to spend all that time/money on a fridge and then have the thing chuck its guts up. Its pretty "easy" to update cars.
What would be the logistics of getting a non working old 50's round edge fridge and putting late model mechanics/electrics in it?

just get an old one regased or reconditioned.
can't really put "modern guts" into it, maybe the compressor but thats about it.

Chris, what you REALLY need is a Hallstom 'Silent Knight'. We had
one when I was a Kid [1940s].
We can thank Sir Edward Hallstrom for Taronga Park Zoo, by the way.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

Those smeg fridges are awesome. Wonder how much they cost. Lots of colours and designs and they have matching dishwashers. Would be very nice to have
if you had a period house.
I'm surprised how many of the old fridges are still kicking around on ebay. New fridges are heavy enough. Cant imagine what an old style real fridge
with real steel is like.

I had an old 50's fridge... steel shell of it was pretty damn solid, and no way it would dent or ripple... about 2mm thick on the back.
Original 'guts'in it still worked a charm when I sold it 2004, but holy crap it used some electricity. Great fridge - never should've sold it.
Shifted it a few times and weighed a ton - took 3 blokes to lift up onto the back of the truck.
