How much oil should be coming up the beather hose??

Okay so i have a leak under my gennerator stand and have the gasket to replace it but just wondering how much oil should be coming up thru the breather hose? it is a stock set up type 1 beetle motor 1600cc TP and it is sparayin oil out the air box (74 onwards beetle airbox) is this just because i dont have an filter element in it atm? or is there a problem with my engine?

Hi Dylan did you put the deflector plate under the generator stand?Which way did you put the baffles? Normally not much oil comes uo the hosr but if the crankcase pressure builds up it will blow out and make a mess.

It's probably just the gen stand baffle plate in the wrong direction like Les said.

If the louvers are facing down and open to the left or up and to the right the crank throws oil through it up the oil filler.
the plate needs to be louvers down and open to the right,

Yeah Dylan, there was a fair bit of smoke coming off the collector area of the extractors when you left Cooperabung today. I was going to talk to you about it.

just fixed the oil leaks from the fuel pump and genny stand, and now no oil leaks onto the exhaust and does not burn and smoke, although there is a pipe that goes from the oil filler to under the car and it puffs and smokes not as much as it did but it still puffs and smokes, what could cause this? the engine is performing great appart from being too rich atm??

could that cause it to run hotter??
