Vw key blanks wanted ASAP!

Old style key blanks for a 63 beetle wanted ASAP!

I lost my keys to the beetle and the plain ones are not doing it for me.

Hi
I just found on ebay in the UK a locksmith who cuts to the original VW code...
so they fit like the originals..

the keys aren;t original VW but they fit the same as the VW code is used to cut them.. like a new VW key ..

azul-locks on ebay

$15-70 a generic cut key to vw specs..
including postage..

UK freight is very fast... usually about a week.. or less..

I used this guy recently and had a generic key to me under a week from the door lock code. $USD 20 and post free.

It might be good marketing but makes sense. He cuts a generic key and you make sure it works. Then you can get an original new blank key cut to your needs. I haven't done this part before, but will do so soon.

Why would you get it done from overseas when local locksmiths have the code programs and machines to cut them and if it doesnt work its easy to sort any problems??? I'll bring my machines and blanks to the nationals and happily charge $20 for a key to code on a generic head

Because if I am new and don't know you do it, then I'll never know. That is why I come on here and find out. I also go to Samba in the US and people there do a thing called advertising - a way to connect the customer to the supplier.

i had my last door key cut for the door lock by my local locksmith, just took the handle in with me as i had no key ,he looked up on his computer for the right type of blank, then put the code in and in an instant had the key in my hand, all within 15 mins of walking in his door. Just dont try and use your local mr minit as thats one waste of time:td:

I have had new genuine VW keys but the local mitre 10 won't cut them as He said He used an unknown key once and it wrecked his cutting wheel.. it was too hard a key..
Now, He will only use the generic keys He sells...

Mr Minit key cutters don't usually have enough experience to cut a key... unless You find an oldie who really knows what He is doing... as once the new key is screwed down wrong in their machine... You are always going to have problems..
You will have pull the key out slightly to turn it..

they are really only used to cutting ordinary door keys...

getting it cut by code is the only way...

That only works if the code on the handle matches the barrel and alot of times they don't

there is a hell of a lot of VWs out there that have had broken door handles replaced but the original key barrel kept so the original key still worked and the code on the handle is meaningless.

Yes,
I got two keys cut when I read on here that the brand of keys Mr Minit uses has stopped making the common VW generic keys
One for the ignition is very catchy... it has to be pushed and pulled to get it right.. and the door key which should been the same profile.. was made with the wrong key profile.....

I should have gone and checked them straight away...
but its been over a year now.. lol

Hi Joel,
I actually bought a locking ignition switch and two matching door locks for My car... so they are all the same number..
I didn't get the actual door handles sent over because of the freight costs..
so, after 40 years... anything could have happened..

all the keys that came with My beetle have the numbers stamped on each key.. all 4 are different.. lol
doors, ignition and engine lid lock...

I also have a new locking glovebox lock and keys which I have never fitted.. lol now those keys are different.. lol
