my first engine pull- new air box? MOTOR BACK IN

ok so I did my first!

So I pulled the motor out of my bug/porrera... not too bad... took 1 hour,
So yeah, the bolts werent in the engine bay... but found it all... have now stripped most of the parts down. So I can paint all the tin as it not in bad nick...
I would like to change the air filter to a single on the stock carb any recommendations?

Thanks
Tyler

Congrats on the engine pull; its always satisfying when done without fuss and easily.

If you have a stock motor keep the stock filter (not sure what you have...)

Umm not real sure what done to the motor, is got the big oil sump thing flat square one, oil cooler, empi exhaust, new push rod tubes... and that all I know... it is a porrera kit car,,, has chrome fire wall and left and right of the motor, as I am spraying the bits you can see black, just wanted to get rid of the massive 'stock looking air box'
I like the rectangle scat style ones, what do I do about the auto choke ie cold start stuff...

Stock carb will work best with stock air filter

Any filter you buy will work ok with a stock carb; but in terms of filtering, cold start pre-heating, connection to breather and in alot of instances performance the stock one is better for a stock carb. If yours is an old oil bath filter they have a built in velocity stack.

You may have but be warned it is a tough way to make a living and if you have to charge for the hours that you spend on the job, actually get the money, give 90% of it to Govt departments, taxation , pay the rent, electricity, licences insurances and anyone else who thinks they are entitled to some of it you will go broke in a hurry. Stick with what you are good at.

You are far better off getting rid of that remote oil cooler, its actually doing more harm than good.

It would be getting bugger all air flow at all where it is and its just heating up the fan intake making the engine run hotter.
Replace it with a remote oil filter, that engine will thank you.
an engine like that only needs the stock oil cooler.

the manifold is the give away. as it has two ports each side.
as for the filter, its to increase the lift span of the engine by better filtering the oil as opposed to the strainer thats fitted as standard
