2ltr Corvair? yes, no or indifferent?

It looks that I might have come across a 2 ltr corvair motor, I know nothing about these strange pieces of engineering, so. . . . . . .

Any good?

How hard are parts to find? can I still rebuild it, are bearings, rings ect still available/cost effective?

If I get lazy, anybody want to trade for a 2ltr type4?

Are they worth anything to anybody?

cheers

There is one particular corvair motor worth a lot to the fella it was stolen off.
When you say that you might have come across one - if the circumstances seem dodgy maybe worth looking further into as the fella who was building the missing one would certainly like it back.

It may of course be completely normal like 95%of the corvairs about - I am just saying.

The stolen one was rebuilt and fancy ;). I'm not a fan Nils, I drove Kombi's, and a Manx buggy with them. :td: For me a hot Volksie wins with better power-weight and rpm.

It would be greater than 2lts 2.4 or 2.7.
All parts can be found cheap enough from Clark's corvair in the states.
You would also need a reverse rotation cam and gear for it. Only really worth doing for the old school cool factor and the Porsche like sound.

And yeah as Matt said they don't rev, exhaust ports are very restrictive.

yeah I heard about that, sorry it still hasn't been found

this one is in the back of a kombi I looked at and has defiantly been there for a while. Thinks it used to run before he bought it, but has never run it himself, dropped a valve or seat from what he remembers but that was quite a lot of years ago

Guess that means it is already reverse rotation?

Either way, think I could get enough for it to replace with a vw motor again?
