Started the Notch, let it warm up, moved it forward 5 inches to get the front wheel off the grey water hose I parked it on last week, turned it off
and locked it, then went and watered the lawn that has gone a week without.
Plan for tomorrow...
Maybe clean the crap off the L-Bug.

Here's a joke...
The cleaning of the carport still hasn't happened!
Today I fitted the old tacho from my Hilux (sold in 2000) that I found in the back shed before Xmas.
This is a follow on from the week before last having put the new seat cams in that Nils had made and getting the timing sorted and cleaning the plugs
this morning.
Even washed it yesterday!
Day Of The Volkswagen is coming up on the 19th...
Any guesses what gave me a Gee Up!

Checked the oil. Filled it with fuel. Then took it for the first decent drive since fitting a new muffler and flared tail pipes.
It's got a nice exhaust note now!
Drove to Scotts Head amongst other places. It's school holidays so my daughter enjoyed the drive as well.

What did you do to your car today
Took the car to the spraypainters yesterday to have the burnt area painted ( previous owner had a fire) brought the rear guards and bumper home,
painted the inside of the bumper and added more underbody sealer to protect the paint.

Starting Friday....
Been booked on for the Copper Coast Classic Cavalcade for about a month, finally got to check the Notch over at 5pm Friday! Not running well, test
drive... flat out at 80k and bit of a miss, hmm, check carbs, fuel filter, leads at distributor. Know timing was right a few weeks ago as Alf had done
such a good job tuning it. Scratched head for a while, everything seems right, pulled each lead off dizzie while running, no real changes. Last
thought, check leads at plugs, (Bastard to reach so hadn't got that far.) Seems a flat four runs better with all cylinders firing! 110k out the same
road, no drama! o_O
Packed the swag and tent in for Saturday departure.
Saturday...
Drove to Kadina, lost fuel cap in Crystal Brook! Yep, to much of a rush leaving servo. Anyone got a Type 3 fuel cap they want to sell?
Kadina was busy as buggery. Kernewek Lowender Cornish Festival, markets, May pole dancing and Classic cars everywhere!

What weight would your trailer come in at Jeff and what motor are you running? We're trying to work out a trailer for camping to tow behind the
Notch.
Can go up to 700kg unbraked but don't want to kill the old 1600 with to much stress.

My trailer isn't that heavy, but with my loaded toolbox in it (as in the photo), it is about 700kgs. I often carry building materials on the top and
on the racks, and can often go over 1000kgs. I have a 1916cc engine in the car. The trailer is built on a Type 111 rear suspension, and both the
trailer and the back of the bug have Sherman disc brake conversions. The front of the bug has standard superbug discs.
Interestingly, I used the trailer for years without the brakes on it with not too many problems, and really only put them on when I was employing more
blokes, and they had utes that struggled with the trailer, especially stopping it in the wet. The rear engine VW is especially good for towing, and
tows far better than a front engined car of similar weight & power.

Jeff, this reminds me of when, in the late '60s, I towed my Formula Vee...behind a 1500 Beetle. The trailer had no brakes, and when going down a
steep hill, it was important NOT to jump on the brakes! The weight transfer onto the tow-bar tended to lift the Beetle's front wheels clean off the
road, making steering impossible.
This happened once, on the way to Bathurst, while going down Mount Victoria...much scarier than the races that weekend.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

I'm even thinking an early to mid 70s jayco. Join the old caravan collectors!
