Hmm, yeah... ouch doesn't quite cover it !!!

Glad you're OK dude - cars can always be rebuilt or replaced.

Rewatching the vid, seemed to be an "interesting" layout to those barriers...

Hi

Bad luck, glad your OK, watching that video was nerve racking for me, I knew it wasnt going to end well but wasnt sure when to expect the crash.

I agree if those barriers were layed out differrently it would have been less of a hard stop.

Chris was not his usual self when he called me yesterday... Understandably shaken, and sad, but mostly pissed with himself... The car sounds pretty bad, but I have not seen it yet... Hopefully later in the week I'll get to his place for a look.... The cage and drivetrain should be salvaged hopefully, but the pan, body and suspension is pretty much poked so Chris tells me.... Chris called me just a moment ago with news that a new and improved sedan is in the planning already, with a replacement car possibly already found.

Good on ya mate.... Get back on that horse.

Unlucky Chris, because those concrete barriers are positioned wrong. Had they been continued along as a straight line as they were earlier in the corner, you may have minimised the damage. Having a lose means you were trying, but you didn't need to be penalised with poor track layout.

Chris from a guy who doesn't like corners and only likes straights 1/4 mile long I was impressed with the footage and sound of your car. Regardless of your vw racing genre any crash is hard to watch. All the best with version 2 of your car. Just glad you're ok.

Did they re-position those barriers after that, Chris?........they should have.

Pity you're so far away, otherwise I could give you a hand to 'straighten it out'.

Don't worry, you'll have it sorted soon enough.....let me know if I can help in any way.

Cheers, Greg

Pity you're so far away, otherwise I could give you a hand to 'straighten it out'. Guys like u amaze me how you can straighten stuff like this out!!

This, my friends, is why you never scrimp on the safety gear.... To take a hit like that and walk away is testament to the build quality and safety gear Chris has put in.

Heartbreaking stuff though.... :(

Holy crap - looked a big enough hit in the vid, let alone seeing the after pics !!!

Feel for ya dude, but again is great that all the safety gear did it's job and you weren't hurt.

And yeah - as others have said - give us a shout if anything can do from over here on 'tother side...

Event ??

I saw the damage photos before watching the video - those barriers certainly aren't very forgiving as I didn't think it would be that bad.

Which event was this - appeared to get a bit more track time than at some events
