Help decoding chassis number!

Hi all,

Looking to buy what I believe is a 1968 beetle but am confused by the chassis number.
#119982536

Rego shows it as a 1968-01 build/compliance car...

Any help figuring it out would be greatly appreciated!

German 69s had the same chassis numbers, the aussie chassis numbers were 9 not 1 and only 65 to 67.

So yes 69 1500 bug, don't trust what rego papers say, the motor registrys are notorious for stuffing up old car details

Hi

RTA are not great with old car details, my new 1303 had one extra digit in their records and caused all sorts of issues

Thanks everyone.

Ended up buying the car.
From what I could tell it was in ok condition, no rust in the floor/heater channels at all.
Looks like it has had some less than stellar A pillar welding done at some stage but all seems stron and straight so not too worried.

Cant wait to pull it apart and start making it beautiful again...!
