WTD NSW: 36hp engine manifold

Hi All,

As stated in the title I am after a 36hp engine manifold for a beetle. Shorter than later models.

Mine has rusted out in the exhaust section. I still want to run without blocking off the inlet.

If you have one for sale please sms me on 0403943588 or PM on here, or email me at type_one@hotmail.com

Cheers
Jason

OK, so here's your challenge.
All the 36 hp manifolds are over 50 yrs old.
Those that are not rusted out are blocked.
And noone has made aftermarket ones.
Happy hunting.
Your best bet may be buying old motors with the hope that the manifold is okay.
Or maybe repairing your old one if its only rusted out.

Thank lucky Phil. I am guessing you are a glass half empty sort guy. LOL. I do take your point though. not easy to find. i live in hope though. and not to dear. i do have one on another spare engine but was going to keep it complete. tend to find them on oily old motors that haven't run in years. your right they rust bad.

fingers crossed

I think I might have one out the back shed with a 36 I striped a while ago. I will have to look, I'm also in Melbourne which could cause a problem...

Try cutting an old brake cable of some sort . Put one end in your hand held drill chuck and fray the other end. Just keep working at it. Be careful though!

Aha! Quite the opposite, actually.
Just thought I would share the fruits of my journey.
I have seen a few people go down the same path, actually. Myself included.
Once they are rusted shut, they are a bin job.
Carbon can be shifted, one way or another.
Hard to tell the difference.
The 1600 twin ports are the ones I am mucking about with, and those manifolds are availiable new.
The early manifolds are'nt.
That's why I said you're best bet is one off an old engine.
