Ajustable Struts ?

Hi all
im interested in lowing my front end a tad.
could anyone recommend where to buy some from? also what's available and works the best ?
does anything else have to be changed besides the strut?

also budget is a big one, I am 18 year old on apprentice wages so im looking for a cheap/safe way to bring the front down.

if anyone could help me out with information that would be helpful :)
cheers in advance

Kent.

You have a couple of options
It all depends om what wheels you want to run

If you want to run stock width then the easiest is to lower the cups on your struts
have a look here
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=48798&page=1

If you want to run 6" - 7" rims under stock guards you nee a thin spring strut like these

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d170/blue74l/RIMG0886.jpg

You can get them from V Force or VVDS here in Australia or Topline in the US
http://toplineparts.com/lower-your.html

Either start with just the lowered cup and short insert way just so it looks good and handles better or get the thin spring shock and then your options are better

It all depends on you wheels
Sort that out first

As Bizarre says plan ahead with what you want to run with wheels.

You can get the adjustable struts with inserts in Aus from Classic VW and other places for around the $220 mark

https://www.classicveedub.com.au/cvd_new/part_detail.aspx?parts_id=16905

They work well if you are sticking with stock wheels or 15s upto 5.5" wide but anything wider needs narrow coil struts.
The tapered springs from Topline buy you alittle more width but not much.

rewelding the lower spring cup works well and costs nothing if you can weld but you are stuck with whatever height you weld them at, adjustables you can atleast fine tune.

Hi

If you are handy with machinery and a welder you can fit you threaded sleeves. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/adjustable-coil-over-sleeves-/111065170802?pt=AU_C...

Steve

ps and then buy springs to suit

I fitted the Empi adjustables from Classics. About $220 with inserts from memory, easy to fit and did the job nicely. Running standard wheels though.

Topline MaXX adjustable struts are what I ran.
Fit 8" wide wheels under the front with about 0.5" of room before I hit the spring itself.

Like people have said, just welding the lower cup to a new position and getting new springs to suit is an easier alternative and a lot cheaper.
