FS: Bris - 1500sp Beetle Engine
I have my old 1500 single port sitting here that I was going to rebuild for my bug, but now I want to throw more money at it and build a new one
instead, so this one needs a home.
The engine was in my car and running this time last year, but it does need the threads for the LHS head reworked in the block as the LH head sits up
too high and causes an oil leak as well as a compression leak on that bank. I have spoken to a VW mechanic about it and he said the threads need to be
retapped oversized, or filled and retapped. It is caused from the softness of the magnesium in the block and is apparently quite a common thing for VW
engines to do at this age.
This engine is a great platform for a rebuild or even if you just want it for parts, but please be aware this is not ready to just throw straight into
your car and drive around. Apart from the head issue it was quite a decent strong little engine, and gave me no other dramas at all.
What you see in the pics is what I am selling, so no carburettor/dizzy etc. Just the basics. $180 or best offer (and yes that includes the clutch
plate!)
I am located in Aspley, north Brisbane. And you can contact me via PM, post in this thread or message me on 0421 359 966. Messages are a better shot
at getting a hold of me as I can't always answer my phone due to work circumstances. Any questions, feel free to ask
Thanks
