They wouldn't have been the originals if they were round top seats.

Amazingly we got round top seats at the same time as the rest of the world which was 65.

Hi there,

Have to agree with Ian - Whatever your plan, decide on it and STICK, STICK, STICK to it and you'll never regret it. I do however LOVE the way the bug looks at the moment :)

Cheers,

I have the interior light hole cover for that car......it's yours, if you keep that little beauty looking more or less as is.

it wont change much. just lowered with BRMs and new carpet and hood lining. both are falling apart. not touching the paint or panels. I might give it a coat of polish to keep moisture out of the paint. :):starhit:

Does anyone know the best place to get the original rubber floor mats from? It doesn't appear to have had carpet on the floor pans but did have it up the sides and over the hump and in the back. It also had thick fitted rubber mats on top of the original rubber but it was that hard that they snapped like fibro when I lifted them out

touch ups

this is how you do old school touch ups. A bit of house paint and a brush. Obviously doesn't last like factory paint

Yes,.. but,.. repainted cars are a dime a dozen. It's only original paint once. GO the touch up route.:tu:

Love it that you're only doing 'bolt on' mods to this one.

In my opinion this one is well worth 'preserving' not 'restoring'.

Being rust free like it is,.. you do realize what an excellant car you have i hope.

Being a standard is really nice too. Great bit of Aussie history.
Tarin has a nice one on here that looks just like yours.

When I found this old girl I had been looking for a long time. I drove to Deniliquin to look at one that was immaculate. when I got there it had been smashed , the whole thing was brush painted and it died as I drove it out the driveway. not even sure why I bothered to start it up. This one I found on ebay and it didn't sell I rang the guy and picked it up the next day. It was way better than I expected. When I saw it it took me 2 minutes to tell the guy I want it. I intend to keep it the way it is dents and all for now. One day I might restore it but not for now.

I have done a couple of little jobs. Converted it to 12v with a accuspark electronic ignition , Fitted a new muffler and fitted a tow bar to tow my little van when I finish it. Gotta love that shiny rear bumper  ( I have kept all the original bits )

that is a very nice standard. they look so good in turkis with a little patina.

to answer your question from months ago, being a standard it should have a fuel tap not a gauge.

I's rather jealous, it looks like you have basically all of the right standard bits, they aren't easy to find if they are missing. (ask me how I know)

if you get the carpet redone and you want to keep it 100% correct you need to get the bits over the wheel arches made shorter then the normal deluxe kits, as you can see in your pics they finished up the wheel arches at the back of the rear seat backrest.

btw this is my 63 standard. it needs to be totally re polished to look like this again. at the moment it's split from the pan waiting for me to give the pan/running gear some well needed love

Verry Nice. whatnowthistime . Do you have any more photos ? What's with the hole in the Hood :?: My bug is pretty clean underneath. Most of the original paint underneath is still fine. I was just going to give it a light rub back and a fresh coat of grey POR15. This is hard to believe but it doesn't leak oil either although there is evidence of past leaks.
