Where to buy replacement inner snapped flexible shaft SOLVED

Good evening gents,

i'm in a bit of a pickle.
Was polishing some heads with a wannabe dremel by ALDI (good bit of kit). I was using the flexible extension, which uses a shaft similar (if not equal) to to the vw square profile speedo cable.

Long story short i broke the flexible cable/shaft inside the flexible extension when the carbide bit caught a loose rag and stopped rotating instantly.

I have been to mitre 10, repco, aussie auto, autobarn and haven't had any luck finding a generic square profile flexible rod/shaft to replace it.

Would anyone have any hints? the cable broke at the end and even if there was some sort of square profile i could crimp on that will do the trick. I tried soldering it back on (solder wouldn't stick), tried welding, tried vice gripping the round cable into a square end... :(

Thanks,
Chris.

The thread to screw the whole flexible extension might be different though.

The flexible extension itself is great and still intact, including the chuck, its just the inner square profile cable/shaft what ever its called thats broken at the very end :( It can be moved in and out freely and thus replacement is pretty straight forward.

At mitre 10 today when i was looking for the square profile inner/guts, i saw the dremel whole flexible extension for sale as a dremel accessory but they were asking more than i paid for the whole kit initially (which was $40)!

Try a motorbike shop mate, SMW in the city, (sydney) sells universal speedo cable kits for motorbikes with all sorts of end on them.

It will all be OK in the end, if it's not OK it's not the end!

Didn't get around to a moto shop but thank you.

Solved the problem, after running around for inspiration. After a few hard ware shops i was referred to mower shops (for whiper snipper) flex drives.

Anyways, after no directions, i went with my own idea which was a dodgey i thought, but is working amazing! I bought a $4 packet of electrical crimp style connectors to connect the broken flex cable back together. i had to shorten it, and i crimped both ends.

Whats shear luck but genius, is that it acts as a 'fuse' to not break the flex drive again when the dremel piece gets caught/jammed. When a jam occurs the crimped piece opens up and the flexible shaft spins inside. So... quickly pull the cable out and recrimp the connector.

Not a problem mate, I work at the shop so if you need that or other bike/vw repair tools, just let me know.
