Yeh like Mike said, engine not finished but I'll be supporting the team and will be racing again soon, as I have raced at track champs in the past as street cars are allowed to participate along with dedicated race cars.

Oh and thanks Wayne.

Thanks Dave, sometime it takes a little longer to put together something a little different and you just have wait and be patient, parts availability has been an issue, as well as a few other mods.

Only thing I've heard from today is Rod Penrose ran an 8.9@140 with early shut down from Ben. Anybody else get some runs in?

Great day at the track with 8 VW race cars attending. We had a lot of people come up to us in the pits and in the staging lanes along with some Andra and track officials to comment on how good it was to see a gathering of VW,s at the event.

I personally had a great day of testing in the Ghia with her new turbo configuration.

1st qualifier was a 15.6 @ 147 with rpm too low on the launch the car stalled

2nd qualifier was a 9.9 @ 152 softened up the clutch and raised the launch rpm

3rd qualifier was a 10.0 @ 153 wheel spin in 1st & 2nd

4th run 1st round ran a 9.5 @ 155 on a 9. 90 dial in. Dropped the tyre pressure which resulted in a good launch but had to get off and correct as it drifted to the wall.

Thanks to all those who came out to crew and those who supported, even saw some VW circuit guy's at the track showing some support.

I will let everyone else put up their results.

Looking forward to the next race meet hopefully we can build on the numbers and have another great day.

Regards

Mike

What a great day. Thanks to all the competitors, helpers and spectators that made the effort to go yesterday.
I had a pretty good day. My suspension changes seemed to help keep my buggy running straight whilst I didn't run a PB my confidence is coming back.

First qualifier 14.0 @ 111mph - missed second
Second qualifier 11.2 @ 118mph
Third qualifier 11.075 @ 118mph
First eliminator hole shot win 11.1 on a 10.95 dial in lifted of the gas at 1000ft
Second eliminator red light 11.2 on a 10.95 dial in big lift again because I didn't see the red light. Wish I run it out the door.

I'm not to good with keeping up with everyone's results but Mike's Ghia run at least two passes over 150 mph best ET was 9.5 still having trouble getting of the line. Great results

Henry was as consistent and competitive as ever. Sorry but I didn't get incrementals.

Russell's beetle run pretty well had a little trouble at the start line but he's really getting a handle on driving his new car. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he manage a 12.4 @ around 115mph

Darren sadly had a mechanical failure. Better luck next time brother

Chris Bolton had some good results once getting on top of he's start line drama's ( Chris has his results in his build thread)

Congrats to Wayne I hear he run his first 9 second pass

Sorry but I didn't see any of Rod's runs or results so I can't deny or confirm the 8.9 but congrat to Rodney on some fast times if that's right.

Once again thanks to all for an awesome day at the track

Yes it was a great days racing at WSID with a good show of 8 VW's.I had a great day with 4 runs.

First run : 14.4. First time using 2 step ,bogged down but went well once of line
Second run :11.99. @115.84 mph. Better start
Third run :12.78 @114.79. Missed start ( was against Shane) tried to get him at the start instead of think what to do
Fourth run :11.68 @ 119.19 better start so I did my PB

A big thanks to Mike for all the hours tuning to let the day run with not one problem apart from the nut behind the wheel.
Henry S always there to give me the pep talk and advise.
Darren hard luck mate, hopefully not to big a problem
Shane ,look out .I'm catching you, just need to lighten the car

Good to see Wayne,Chris and Rod there.Ben you missed a great day.

Mike so good to see the Ghia flying down the track.
A special thanks to all the vw supporters ,family along with our wonderful pit crew.Roll on the next meet !!!

I had a great time at WSID on saturday with my first passes in the WPVW dragster ...... what a blast it is to drive !!

Well done to Chris Bolton for persevering with his car with a faulty staging brake , and especially for the tremendous save on the last run when he got off it as his bug was pointing directly at the left wall .... well done Chris !!

It was sensational to see the response received for all the VW's running at the event . It was great to see and chat to all of the guys at CBB and to just chill and enjoy a day at the track together . Well done to Mike , Russell , Shane , (and the entire CBB Team) , especially Henry for his great words of wisdom . and I hope Darrens engine issues are minor so that they can be resolved before the next meeting .

I gained some valuable data on the dragster ( especially that it goes straight !!) and here are my times for the 4 passes that I made ......

1st run - tune was way too rich & engine misfiring all the way down the strip.....
R/T ………… 0.940
60’ ………… 1.407
330’ ………… 4.440
1/8 ………… 6.956
MPH ………… 100.44
1000’ ……… 9.108
Ό …………… 10.914
MPH ………… 124.36

2nd run - pulled fuel from the tune & engine ran clean all the way to the end ( see video ) .....
R/T …………… 0.570
60’ …………… 1.419
330’ ………… 4.085
1/8 …………… 6.304
MPH ………… 109.55
1000’ ………… 8.239
Ό ……………… 9.888
MPH ………… 135.52

3rd run - increased boost & reduced timing 5deg . jumped out of 3rd gear during the skid & didnt get the tyres warm enough . Turned the tyres from the start & had tyre shake . Boost guage showed 16psi .....
R/T …………… 0.454
60’ …………… 1.495
330’ ………… 4.204
1/8 …………… 6.483
MPH ………… 106.82
1000’ ………… 8.488
Ό …………… 10.179
MPH ………… 132.90

4th run - Wayne stuffed up !! adjusted boost what I thought was a little higher & all hell broke loose . Awesome skid , great launch , then no clutch grip in 2nd , 3rd & 4th gear with boost guage needle smacked hard against stop past 30psi .....
R/T ………… 0.836
60’ …………… 1.412
330’ ………… 4.096
1/8 ………… 6.518
MPH ………… 98.33
1000’ ……… 8.696
Ό …………… 10.581
MPH ………… 112.96
