narrowed beam roadworthy help
Hi does anyone know or know of a roadworthy place that won't have an issue with a narrowed adjustable beam on my bug? vw friendly or otherwise in
melbourne (south east suburbs would be easier but a lot of places won't touch em) any help appreciated he's nearly done otherwise
Thanks

that's probably cheaper than taking out the new beam (which replaced the one that was on it which was modified to the highly unsafe state) and
installing a stock one just for roadworthy and then changing it back - is that what people do normally?

That's a disturbing idea and what is killing the modified car hobby ,if it's not safe why the f@#k would you risk your life and mine and my family
for a mod that is only to look cool (questionable) and make you car handle like a piece of crap.

If Roadworthy tester will not pass it, then you need to see an Engineer. Get the engineering report, and go from there.

Thanks guys - when i bought the car it had the narrowed beam in it but one of the previous owners had ground the shock towers off - it now has a brand
new beam and shock absorbers - being ignorant when i bought it i figured the beam was fine lots of narrowed/adjustable beams out there, but was kind
of horrified that it had no shock towers/absorbers - what people do to their cars is their own business what i was doing with mine was yes keeping the
look i liked and making it as safe as possible for yes other road users as well as myself. I have learned now that there are different ways of
lowering cars and this set up may change in the future. I don't want or need a dodgy roadworthy person but some have no problem with a narrowed beam
and some do - as it seems, there are some people who have faith that this kind of set up is no less safe than a more stock set up and thanks to the
forum i can see others' opinions - both sides and i have read many a heated discussion about both sides - i drive a kombi normally so can't say
whether this ride is any better/worst than one with a different set up - yes it did feel like a shopping trolley with 2 bad wheels when my mechanic
had finished working on the engine and i took it for it's first spin around the block - there was no way i was driving it in that condition but it
feels good to me now
