1776/1835 040 Heads, 36mm Webers and linkage, C35 Cam and lifters
I've been collecting engine parts to build a rock solid/reliable 1776 for the bug, but as per usual things have taken a side road to the land of
'bigger is best'..
All of these bits combined would provide a nice torquey motor that would LAST and have nice power up to 4500-5000rpm:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=494971&start=0
Heads:
GENUINE VW 040.101.375.2 stock valve heads that have had the combustion chambers, inlets and exhausts gently massaged By Henry Spikac with match
ported (and sleeved) IDF manifolds and heavy duty single springs and retainers.
These heads are brand new, the work is top notch, all the fins are intact and I have not even done a mock up with them.
I was told by the guy I bought them off they are Berg single springs and retainers so they are good to 5500rpm.
I seem to have lost the bit of paper that came with them, but remember that the chambers are 52cc, but you would need to check this.
I'm after $850 ONO for the pair of heads and match ported manifolds (I won't seperate them)
Do the math on these, they are the real deal not the crap getting around that the seats fall out of.
Just a pair of Empi (autolinea) are $700 before you open them up, buy the springs, get them installed and the then get someone to clean them up and a
set of IDF manifolds are $150..
36mm Webers:
These are a pair off an Alfa but they have have had the emulsion tubes changes to the correct F11, Airs are 145, Mains jets (on top so easier to get
to) are 50 and the starter jets ontop are marked 70F7.
The chokes are off (still have all the old bits) and have the plates fitted, the fuel inlets have been changed to vw frendly barbs, they have two new
gasket kits, CB style alloy linkage and (used) air cleaners.
As per any webers off an Alfa, these will need the tops to be tapped and 6mm studs fitted to correctly mount the air cleaners.
These have not been run a VW yet and will need to be cleaned up and gone through etc.

I'm after $450 ONO for carbs/linkage/aircleaners
Scat C35 Cam and lifters:
Brand new Scat C35 cam (some say these perform better than the Engle 110 which they are a direct comparison to and why I bought it) and new lifters
(that I bought off here) with a few stains on them but I've had them looked at by Shimmo the legend and he said they are fine to use..
I'm after $150 for these.
Peter

Carbs:
Note that these 36 webers have the main on the top not the side which makes it easier if they block.
