$86-23 Australian for two including postage to Australia

Great looking lights... look like Hella.. but look actually nicer..

If You have genuine Hella lights with No Rust, then just wax them and they won't rust...

I have a Hella one here somewhere and I was going to measure it as they give the size on that SCV website

Hey Robb, I have a bit of a Fetish for these babies too - although, I think that the "hooded eyebrow" version looks better as "stand alone". These are the Hella 115(width in mm) - the late 356s and early 911s used the 128 sized ones with a lemon coloured lens as under slung Fog Lights....don't like these, the proportions look a bit fat. There are Bosch versions of both sizes - mainly used on Mercedes and price like it too.
Hella reintroduced (OEM) the hooded 115s a few years ago (Yellow box with blue logo) - the internals/lampholder varied a bit and they came with either Clear or Red Glass lens. You could also find OEM amber plastic lens for Fog. I think that the plastic was intended for front mounting stone chip reasons... although not suitable for high wattage lamps - especially QI, as the plastic discolours and melts.
When initially released, these could be picked up for roughly $35 but add another $100 now... shorter supply and the 356 crowd are on to them.
I am having a go at adapting LED Cree lamps behind the plastic Fog lens...the main problem is their narrow beam.
I bought a pair of the SVC-UK stainless ones. They are not 'hooded', the red lens is plastic, the size is correct for the 115, the fitting of the front rim is not as neat as the Hella but, they have a good rubber gasket. One of the units that I received had x2 of the base mounting rivets missing and the other x2 loose....the price is good though and stainless....!
The old original Hellas for the rear of Transporters (came in a dark Blue and Grey striped box) were usually chrome front rim with black enamelled body and some were hooded and others not.(with various lampholders)... I am setting up a pair of the with Amber Fog lens' and LED lamps powered from a 12 volt inverter. I am colour matching the black body to the colour of the car - white/ivory.

Keep an eye out on eBay but don't put 'VW' in the search as there are often NOS available which were sold as aftermarket reversing lights for FJ Holdens (6V) etc. Put in a very general search eg. "Early Hella Bosch Reversing light" and look at least weekly - it's amazing what comes up.
Regs, Lance.

thanks heaps for that lance for that info like i said i have seen the ones at s v c but thought they were to deep at 78mm but sounds like they are close, also thought about fitting the led globes but don't know what globe they take, really wanted them as a third brake light so the red lens would suit and the hooded ones do look smart but a little dear for me .anywat ill keep looking thanks again

Hi Lance
I have been fiddling around with 12v downlights in My house.
I have many different types bought over the past few years-
12v DC with multi small LEDs - NOW 12v 3 LED 3 watt -
12v 4 x 1watt LEDs - using lots of these at present.
they have the MR16 two pin base.. and work perfect on cars.. 12v
I actually fitted two MR11 downlights [stainless steel fittings] in the front of My wifes Suzuki swift about 3 years ago hooked to parking lights..
Most of these had an angle of 30 degrees which isn't very wide.. some are now available in 45 degrees.. and I have on order a CREE 3 watt 3 LED MR16 downlight which is supposed to be 120 degree angle.. I only ordered one to check it out.. if it IS 120 degrees angle , I will replace all the others.. the size of the downlights vary a bit with the heatsinks, I have a 9 watt 12v one which is about double the length of a normal downlight.. plus wider because of the fins of the heat sink..
Do You know of the NEW COB LED s??
You can get them 10 watts -- 1 watt.. and higher,
the LED piece itself is roughly square with a lug either side for soldering wires to.. I'll see if I can find the 10 watt one and take a pic of it.. VERY bright and 120 degrees angle of light...
The LED themselves is square... they don't fit into anything like the round ones do..

cheers

LEE

Hey LEE, Good to have a 'fiddle' outside of the square...we can't have all of our cars looking the same.
Thanks for the info re the COB LEDs...I wasn't aware of them...the LED technology is shifting fast these days.
Another problem that I had with the CreeLEDs besides the narrow beam, was that as they go up the brightness scale they generate plenty of heat through their driver circuit. They then insert a heatsink between the driver and the LED making the lamp very long and showing as a pinprick through the lens of the FogLamp...not a good look on this otherwise nice looking lamp body.
The COB jobs are recommended to be used on a ceramic substraite ....which looks like code for "more heat"...I'll check it out over the net. A 120° spread would be a good result...maybe, remove the reflector all together and mount the ceramic slice deep in the body.
Am interested in your opinion once you get your order in. I wonder if those freezer chips that are used to cool PC Processors would have enough umph to keep them cool and short.

Hey Robb, Let me know when you get something and I can swap some parts around with you...I don't have a use for my RED lens, but would rather swap than sell, so that my lamp is still complete.

Regs, Lance.
