Wanted: Left hand sliding door
Hey, ive got a double sliding door 1969 kombi and can't seem to find a replacement left hand side sliding door. If you have one and live in Victoria
in/around the eastern suburbs PLEASE send me a PM so we can discuss price/transport etc.
If you DONT have one but know where i can find one, within Australia is preferred but i'll accept international, please PM me or comment on here.

Left hand sliding door...?
Im looking for a left handed sliding door for a 1969 kombi, but cant really find one... anywhere. Window doesnt matter at all as im intending to keep
the panel van look, so if it has a window ill just get a panel welded over.
Questions:
Do i need to be careful about welding over the windows? Besides of course getting the curve and thickness right.
Does anyone know, preferably Australian but ill take anything, of a place i can get a left hand sliding door?
Much appreciated for any and all help on this one, thanks.

When you say left hand sliding door - do you mean passenger or drivers side as you said in another thread you have a double slider Type 216?
Sliders have a habit oif getting dented and rusted - especially rusting around the window sill and the door sill - so not many survivors left. Keep an
eye on gumtree and ebay or if you are after a drivers side slider then the USA is you best bet - try thesamba.com

Thanks Scott. Unfortunately I'm looking for what seems to be the far rarer passenger side sliding door (this is an Australian model so the wheel is
on the right side. Right from inside the car looking out the front that is.) Any suggestions on that? I guess I could just get an inner and outer door
panel and just get a good panel beater to fix it up...?

Every Australian bus had a LH sliding door. Should be easy enough to get in Australia. Just weld over the window with 1.0mm cold rolled sheet metal. I
do this stuff every day, it is easy, just takes time not to warp the sheet.

The sliding doors differ from year to year.
Lowlight models go up to 1973 then 74 -76 were the same (I think) and 77-79 the same (I think).
However I have seen some late doors used on an early bus but they didnt seem to close properly.
You can get repair sections to fix your existing doors - which may be your best option?

Good luck , i spent 2 years looking for my good door ie rust free and straight , be expecting to pay $500 plus too
