What oils are commonly used in the engine and box?

There are a heap of threads on here about what oil to use and its a good debate with no clear winner. ACE 30 is recomended by many, but not all.
Depends on engine (stock, performance, race and age), plus other factors.
maybe try a search......

once you have replaced the transaxle oil I can recommend a dose of this stuff, for the transaxle that is.
http://www.nulon.com.au/products/Specialty_Products/Manual_Gearbox_and_Diff_T...
Nulon G70 manual gearbox and diff treatment.
and heres a tip, just confirm that you can get the 'fill' plug undone before you dump the transaxle oil out the bottom drain, just in case a gorilla
did up the plug in the past. Otherwise you will have to roll the car on its roof to refill the transaxle.

I use that treatment. works great, reduces wear on the box greatly and is very noticable in the old oil drain with the treatment vs without. Without,
there is metalic texture to the oil and with it its pretty clean.

Ensure high zinc content for air cooled push rod engines.
Penrite offers this in 20w50. 20w50 is suitable for a stock air cooled engine, if uprated oil pumps are used you should go thinner.

whats the ppm? I bet I can name few with higher. but higher its always better. its about choosing correct balance of chemistry for the right
application.

To those that offered some advise, I thank you.
Being a technology phobic I didn't know about a
SEARCH feature. I promise I will use that in the future.
I like this forum for the helpful people.

ENGINE OIL
it's actually the phosphorus that does the work
if you want look into it seriously go check out the BITOG forum and take your info with a bucket of salt. Generally speaking you're looking at high
zddp and a name brand, avoid the later classifications like SM/SN oils which have to defer to regulations designed for keeping catalytic converters
alive.
