Installing new window felt

Hi All...
I'm attempting to replace the window felt on the forward main window on my passenger and drivers doors (ie behind the quarterlight).

The new felt is much longer than the window cut out, so I'm assuming that whilst I've pulled out the old felt, theres probably more down inside the door that I can't see.

Does anyone have any tips on how to fit this as I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm going to have to pull the entire door apart in order not to bend and mash the new felt channel.

Cheers

You mean the straight bailey channel [felt] it goes straight down in the metal channel.. I don't think it matters how far it goes down
I think I let mine go down below the metal channel..
Mine is a 1968 beetle.. I presume the earlier beetles would be similar..

you need to remove the door card so you can remove the window. Otherwise you can't fit the felt channel.

It pushes into the metal channel very easily.
