LED tail lights Oval bettle

Has anyone seen or bought the LED tail light conversion for Oval tail light? I want to now if they have an indicator mode and if so is it orange or red. What are people doing for front indicators with their Ovals?is there aLEDglobe around that fits into the parker hole in the headlight

Cheers RJ

You can get LED kits for snowflake taillights from a few people, Vollks, Airkewld etc. They don't have an indicator function, just taillights and brake lights.

I have a set in some snowflakes, I would HIGHLY suggest buying a set of repro snowflakes, from CIP or similar, to replace any OG ones, there is a chance of damage to the lenses when dismantling them to put the LED assembly in

Beware, many LED lights are virtually invisible during the day...

and the amber bulbs inside headlamps are illegal , as they are also difficult to see during the day... but some mechanics seem to be passing them...

You can buy the small amber blinker lights [like motor cycle type]
and fit them above or below the bumper mounting irons..

many people have done this...

also, most blinker units are made to be used with 2 x 21 watt bulbs... this is usually printed on them... [12volts]

And a lot are not road legal, listed as being for off road use only. Some are ok though. A custom build would be the best. Make up a light to suit which fits behind a stock oval lens. Is it legal to have a flashing red tail light like the American cars?

Hi

Flashing red blinkers are illegal in all states

although I have seen them fitted to many beetles...

they should be amber coloured..

LEE

PS: faded blinker lenses that aren't amber are illegal too..

Not strictly true.

They are ok if fitted with an amber bulb.

And didn't some early bugs come with clear indicator lenses in the early 60's.

Honestly, do a custom bulb array and make your own. Takes a bit more work but better in the long run.
