[WTB] Bilstein Shocks for lowered T1.

Hey peoples..Does anyone have good contacts for Bilstein front shocks for a '70 Beetle (beam has adjusters and spindles). I am looking for a shortened Monotube gas to match the rear Bilsteins I bought from Richard Holzl. Just looking for someone who stocks them and has them readily available.Failing this I will track down Richard again..Regards Jason.

Anyone else stock Bilsteins or have them in stock for the front of a 1970 Beetle?..Rang Richard from VForce but no answer on both his numbers (one disconnected and the other rang out)... Rang Bilstein Australia and they have no stock and probably wont get any in for months and EShocks in the states dont seem to want to return my emails..surely somebody wants my business?..lol.

Bit of a delay with the US given our time differences but I have ordered shocks from Eshocks..More than $150 cheaper to my door from the US.Bilstein Australia said no stock but can get some in around 2 months for anyone interested in purchasing Monotube Bilsteins within Australia..Cheers Jason.

Nope..mine didnt come with boots either..I guess I run the OE Style boots from CIP1 that suit the shock fitting kits?..Thats if the boots fit over the shock body, because the Bilsteins have a rather fat body..BTW the shocks were $245 AUD to my door (Adelaide)..

Yeah CIP1 sell them..Looking to order all the gear tonight but I reckon the Bilsteins body may be too big for the OE style boots..Dunno..might buy them and find out.Their not a big expense if they dont fit.

'These shocks must be used with original VW upper mount assembly. This assembly includes the following VW Parts: Dust Cover No. 131.413.425A Cushions No. 131.413.435 Bumpstop No. 131.413.449B Washer No. 131.413.431 Cap No. 131.413.441 Nut (M10x1.50) (Note # 24)'

straight off the link, apparently you just use your old tops. and new rubbers etc. keep us posted on how they drive, I'm very keen on a set of these.
A few months ago I found an entire Bilstein set for BJ beetles. Shocks, rubbers, even rear tortion bars, front and rear for $990.....can't find it anymore :(

Brutus has these. Got them modified and shortened by 'Quadrant Suspensions' (Vic. Bilstein specialist) in Berwick I think; don't know if they are still going. They made them as short (in movement, for lowered front) and as stiff ("super sport" setting or something like that) as possible. The front ones (look like the pic.) fitted the same standard upper mounting hardware that the standard shocks used (large rubber mount & dust cover). The result was very good on track, although a bit hard for road-cruising. Quadrant may be able to supply/modify them, if they are still around.

ACE 30 & 40 oils: specifically engineered for your Air Cooled VW
delivered (free del.) throughout Yarra Valley / Ranges, & Gippsland areas. Also ACE 20, 50 & 90.

No action on this thread for a while.I have the standard fitting kits from CIP1 for the front Bilsteins and bought the dust covers aswell..The after-market dust covers are more of a rigid plastic than a rubber boot, also the plastic boot barely fits over the shock body of the Bilsteins..So they are just going to rub all the paint off the Bilsteins and annoy the shit out of me.

So looks like I will run without them or maybe look for some universal soft plastic blue boots made by Bilstein?..The wifes beetle is just a weekend car so the car wont see rain or shitty road conditions.

Hi

Konis for your model come with a direct fitting and a trimable bump stop.

You might be able to use a boot from steering rack on your shocks.
