Is this who I think it is ??? Old Photo
Not up for Picture of the week, so I thought I would post it here.
Came across this photo and I have my suspicions of whom two of the characters are in this photo. If I wrong, oh well still a groovy old photo of VW
fans.

Rod Young and Simon Matthews.
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.
Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

Yes that's my younger brother Simon second from right. I'm trying to get him to start coming to Club meetings and runs again, as his twins are now
nearly nine and he doesn't need to be a stay-at-home dad so much. That's his '68 semi-auto Beetle in the background, which was nice and straight
but he pulled it apart in 1988 to restore and customise. The pan and bodyshell have been completed and painted for years, but it's still in a million
pieces under a cover in his garage. Covered and surrounded by junk. He says he'll finish it "one day."
Yes Rod Young far right. He was the Club VW secretary and editor in the very early days and did most of the admin work for the first few VW Nationals.
He was/is a school teacher at Arthur Phillip school at Parramatta, which is why our PO box has been at Parramatta. He spoke German, and it was his
idea to call the club magazine 'Zeitschrift', German for 'magazine'.
The bearded guy on the left is Chris Edwards, the first president and co-founder of Club VW. He left after the first year or so, citing work
commitments, and we haven't seen him since. And his wife, whose name I forget.
Photo was taken at Padstow in March 1985, at my 21st. Seems a long time ago now - look at those beers, carlton Light and Tooheys Export Pilsener! I
originally scanned it (from a slide) and posted it here: http://www.clubvw.org.au/oldart010

Or March 2014 for the half century.
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

At least the carport in the background is still there - and it's had a coat of paint since then too.
