34-PICT-3 Carb
Hi All
Spend a couple of hours fitting an evil-bay purchase of a 34-PICT 3 carb.
In addition to the fuel inlet to the bowl and the vacuum pipe on the left hand side, there is a third inlet/ outlet pipe on the front of the carb.
Found lots of exploded carb pics but nothing that describes this bit.
Can anyone tell me what this is and what it should connect to please?
Whilst we're at it, any advice on how to repair a stripped carb manifold bolt?
Cheers

the extra vacuum port is probably for the USA engines which had a vacuum hose going to the front of the air cleaner...
Some had:
a side port for the distributor advance
a front port for the distributor retard
a front port for the control valve on semi auto beetles
and the other front port for the pollution stuff etc..

It's for the retard.
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.
Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!

Which one is it, the one under the float chamber or the rear one?
THe rear one in a pinch you can put a longer bolt through with a nut on top, nut may need some clearaning for the blanked off vac port but stripped
front ones under the float chamber need a helicoil.

Cheers for the retard info. I've blanked it off for now as I'm running a single vacuum distributor.
I'll have another crack at tuning it today having found this (point 7).

Joel - It was the rear bolt the easier one to get to - I found something to fit along the lines of your suggestion interim which appears to be working
well enough.
Cheers for the knowledge and by the way - found your YouTube vid on the removable rear apron which I tackled last weekend. Awesome.
