Serpentine Belt set up
I have put a serpentine belt setup on the car but I can't get the top pulley to stay tight.
On a stock set up there is a notch in the pulley you can lock against the alternator housing.
Not sure how I am suppose to hold it right to tighten.

i guess this is another one of those "that will do" designs.
So what other problems do these belt upgrades have? I thought they were suppose to be heaps better than v belt?

I have experienced very much the same problem....fixed it by machining the centre out and pressed in centre from the steel pulley...no problem ever
since...

I use a billet aluminium vee pulley, these work great, i have them on two of my cars, survives on my 2275 in my ghia. along with a steel bottom
pulley.

Hi
After giving up trying to find a decent German steel pulley I used a billet one on my sons bug like the one above, its very well made but uses odd
size shims so make sure you buy some spares.

Barry,
looking at your first post, all you are saying is that you cant hold the pulley to tighten it. Put socket and bar on the fan (firewall side) nut and
then go for it on the outer (alternator) bolt as you are working the two against each another.
