[WTB - VIC] Parts needed DESPERATELY
Hey to cut a long story short my khama for wankie red brakes was instant for as I sat a week last sunday in my 74 L with indicator on , foot on brake
waiting to turn right when a taxi decided to clip the left guard and wheel and push it forward, with trailing arm, spring plate, shock tower,
I need a quick fix and instead of swapping pans I can chop out shock tower and end of torsion bar tube, soI am looking for a donor chassis ? or any
rusty old smashed irs, swing axle chassis, type 3 that I can cut a section out of. can pay cash.

Wouldn't you expect the taxi driver/taxi company to pay in full for the repair, or your/their insurance company?
Thats what I'd be doing first rather than forking out for repairs yourself.
Did they stop and give details? Sounds like it was their fault.

If you have third party property, approach your own insurer. In many cases they will help you claim against him. Also make a Police report. No way
should you waste time and money fixing it yourself.

Legally doesn't have a choice. Taxis would have full comprehensive. Even if he's an independent contractor, the parent company would surely take an
interest ie black and white, yellow cabs etc. You can very easily find out his insurance details. Armed with a rego number, you call a couple of
larger insurers and they can search for it. I've done it before, most operators are happy to help. Once you know the company, you can contact them
and request they repair it. Or you get quotes and then send them a demand. If they are a licenced operator they really have little choice but to pay.
Involve the cops as they will force the driver to nominate his insurance company. Pretty sure its a legal requirement in most states to provide this
when asked especially when at fault.
I would think it a major task to cut and weld suspension components. If not done right the cars safety could suffer adversely. One degree out at one
end equals an accident waiting to happen. Then you are liable. No way would I want it fixed by anyone who isn't an expert. As said, may be a write
off.
Try calling the local fair trading or even the taxi council, taxis are licenced by a governing body and this would count as misconduct. Go the bastard
for full costs.
Good luck.

Got to be careful re write off claim as it possibly will come up on insurance books as a write off and maybe unrepairable write off so you can't
repair or get it registered again.
Agree with what Ian posted - he, the taxi driver, is being a smart arse and taking your piss - report to police and taxi coy - you'll come out the
other end better off and the smart arse driver will wish he had pulled his head in to start with.

Why do I have a feeling there is more to this story than the original poster is telling us?
In Vic it would not be on the WOVR, as it's too old.

There's always more to a story IMO.
If it was me I would go them! I wouldn't stop till they had sorted it out.
As far as the write off thing goes, I think it only goes on a register if an insurance company writes it off. If it is deemed too expensive to fix in
this case, you make the taxi company or their insurer pay you full market (write off) value and keep the car.
If they get away with things like this they just take for granted that rules are meant to be broken.
