Brakes on a 76 beetle
Hi guys
I know the '76 is an amalgamation of parts from the Super, Standard beetles and perhaps other models.
Can somebody tell me what models the front discs and rear drums comes from?
For example, are they the same at on the 1500 beetles?

Hi Greg
Rears are the same as any 4 stud Beetle, so 1500, super & L bug
Fronts rotors are almost the same as above but from 1973 they used a wheel centering ring. The calipers are L bug but the mounting tabs are the same
so any Beetle or early Type 3 caliper will fit.

Hi
Its a raised section on the wheel bolt face that fits inside the wheel, that way the wheel runs truer and the bolts only need to keep it tight.
You can see it on my front brake just outside the grease cap.

If you get a wheel matching the center bore of your hub ring, then you have a hubcentric wheel setup.
A lot of the time people don't even think about the center bores of wheels and just purchase them (I have been known to do this), but you can get
around it by utilising hubcentric rings which are pretty easy to find.
