Free HP
Hopefully I don't take the Drag Tech Section virginity with a silly question.
We know that weight is one of the enemies of a drag car and is basic free HP once removed correctly.
My question is:
What is a safe weight to take out and from which locations without affecting the structure and integrity of a vehicle.
Strip.....
Street.....
As I'm planning to put a 66' street car on a strict diet the thought was to remove material not only from the roof gutters but also the floor
tunnel, currently weighing the Steel guards, decklid vs Fibreglass to see how much weight can be saved if any.

perspex instead of glass is another idea. Maybe street legal for all windows except windscreen, you'll have to confirm.
They have a bit of weight in em', and would lower the centre of gravity.

New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

Hi
Having sent a few bugs to heaven I think the heaviest part is the doors. If you cut a bug up, all the other body bits light in comparison

Yep, I'll second the doors! And the perspex too, there's about 60kg just in those two I rekn.
Hey Fish, next time you're on "The Lounge" check out the weight-saving thread from start to finish if you haven't already done so, some of those
blokes really need a life!
And after that? These only weigh in at 13kg including tyres, which is 3kg per corner.........
........and I know sticky roundy-roundy tyres in 195/60R14 (probably 0.5kg lighter) can rattle out 1.7 60ft all day easy-peasy. Also lowers your
effective gearing by a good 10% compared to a 165/80R15, more torque multiplication on the line for a street/strip car.
