Hi all,
What data logger do you use? What do you log? Is it worth logging AFR on each cylinder?

andrew, i run an R.P.M. data logger, they give you the basics (rpm, oil pressure , 4 egts ,feul pressure , ) you can fit a lot more to it at purchase
or add extras later on. All the wiring is done all you do is terminate the ends,you need a laptop also
if you are looking for bells and wistles buy racepack, they are the best and you pay for it . Mine cost me $1400 delivered and it took approx
2weeks
It comes down to how much imfomation do you want or need ?????????

I run a motec CDL3 on a toyota
logs all inputs into the motec ecu + track/lap times, speed, GPS odometer etc.

69' baja: kombi box, thing spindles, irs, disc front, type 3 rear drums, 2 inch lift kit, 31x10 rears.
New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

Clutch slip, rear suspension movement and longitudinal accelerometer, which a lot of newer units have built in.
Do you want to log mainly for monitoring engine health and safety or for developing the car?

Engine health mostly.... So was thinking basic but am wondering if each cylinder O2 is worth logging....
Out of curiosity how does a clutch slip sensor work?

Clutch slip derived from engine rpm and input shaft rpm. Some loggers will derive input shaft rpm from driveshaft rpm I think, otherwise a sensor
needed on each.
One O2 and 4 egt's is the more common method for individual cylinder.

Thanks for that, I assume that the idea is to have the EGT the same and then target the AFR?

Yeah, both at the same time really. An N/A engine might not see a whole heap of benefit from 4 EGT's compared to blown setups which are more prone to
dropping cylinders and burning valves etc.
Crankcase pressure is a good one to log as well to keep an eye on engine health.

Andrew, my Racepak (V300) logs a lot of stuff, (engine and suspension) I have 4 EGT's and single AFR but will be going to 4 AFR's. I had a look at
some Pro Stock cars at the last event and they all use an AFR in each pipe and the EGT's were not even installed.
The good thing about the V300 is that it comes with a clutch slip sensor out of the box. Really easy to hook up as most of the sensors are on the data
bus as Dave S said and are plug and play setting wise. (virtually no setup)
The Racepak sportsman is a cheaper option, but you don't get the capacity for as many sensors.
I heard that one you go to an AFR sensor in each pipe you see some amazing stuff and would never go back to a single.
The only issue with Racepak (other than their parent company MSD filing for bankruptcy) is the price. Buy once, cry once.

I've just bought a race technology dash and dl1 logger. Pretty good value for money, English stuff. Don't know if you are injected or not, but can
run a serial cable from the ecu to the dash/logger. Best of all I paid 1100 NZD for the dash and logger one year old. https://www.race-technology.com/content.php?pcat=2&cat=30592. 800 quid new plus a bit of freight new. Also does gps
and has accelerometer stuff.... Looks good for the dosh to me, but I'm no expert.

doesnt matter which one you get,it needs to be easy to understand and use.
biggest problem i see ,everyone gets them.and nobody knows how to ready them properly.
i reakon out 8 out of 10 guys dont use them after the first couple of weeks .
