1971 Semi Auto Ignition switch

Hi guys am just about ready to put the steering column in my car but it is missing the ignition switch, anyone know where I can get a decent quality one, or if a later one with an accessory position will work/fit?
Cheers.

It will all be OK in the end, if it's not OK it's not the end!

Hi they are the same as regular Beetles with all the wires soldered to the switch at the bottom. 1968-1970
USA ones had a steering lock built in to them.
You will see the two pieces of metal on the top of the steering column
the locking part goes in between those.. Switch all fits the same..
What happened to Your switch?

The car had been stolen before I got it so they did a dodgy switch on the side affair and then removed the original. Yeah mine looks the same as that, cool thanks for that mate.
On a side not do you know if you can buy the rubber/plastic bush at the bottom of the column separately?

Hi
I've never seen any of those steering column bits for sale anywhere.
Someone may have a used one in good condition.??
but not sure what part You are asking about..
There is a big rubber boot between the body and the steering column outer.

If You mean the round rubber piece between the shaft and the steering box
I think its called a damper - You can buy them in rubber or red urethane..

shame about the damage from some idiots..

Trying to think what it is...
is Your broken? does it have a part number on it?

Bentley manual says its a rubber steering column support... there is also a U shaped metal clamp at the end..
so, I presume its made from soft rubber..

Just read that Your beetle is a 71 SUPERBUG..
so its probably different to Non Supers... but basically just a seal..
