The waiting is over(now with pic's)
Hi to all,We'll after all the years of wanting a bug I finally got one. She(Betty ) has bean around Melbourne for a while and I am the next chapter in
her life,She is a1964 bug with a 1600 tp motor.Ive had a few prob's with her but am learning how to fix and hopefully better her.I had to replace
the front beam for RWC and then the rear main seal decided to leak so out came the motor.I decided to change the fly wheel and stater motor to 12volt
at the same time (had problems starting her a few teeth missing).so a bit of a baptism of fire but I love it.The plan is to lower the front a new
paint job and keep driving her she is my every day driver.Cheers JJ.
PS will post some photos as soon as I work out how to. |

Congratulations on finally getting your bug and welcome to the forums.
Car looks very neat, just wondering why you needed to replace the front beam? Did they say it was bent?

Thank's Kev when I took her in for a RWC he found it was sitting on the bump stops with no travel at all.So to get her on the road I replaced it
with a stock beam and now she sits to high. The old beam was cut, dropped and welded with no adjustment. So now I need to work out what sort of beam
,drop spindels to put in her.cheers JJ. |
