Thinking of a resto with abit of hotting up, super bug spoiler and making it more like a race style, original hubs spoiler lowers a tad and sports
exhaust ext. Also planning on running white walls, anyone know Much about white wall inserts?
At the moment though the goal is to get her running, fix the paint, clean the interior and get the breaks working! Then will be getting her on the
road haha... Going to be a good project!

Idea for speaker box
Thinking of knocking one of these together sometime after shes on the road... basic speaker box however you don't loose space for storage like i know
a lot of people do... this is just a rough un-measured model of what i am hoping to build, will get measurements soon and maybe post blueprints
(seeing as there are none on the internet) haha.
any thoughts on it?

in the next I month or so i am hoping to clean up the engine, replace all fuel lines, replace the fuel filter and fuel, change the spark plugs, change
the oil, clean the oil strainer, do something with that front guard, clean out the interior, remove the flacky paint from the rims and give them a
respray (not hub caps) maybe get my new tyres (if funds are available) same as a new exhaust from: classicveedub.com.au, clean the windows from the
inside, clean out the trunk, connect the battery up, and hopefully get her running  I also need to take a look at those brakes :/ handbrake is fine but the others need some attention...
This may not go as quick as I hope... But a goal is in place haha
Anything i may have missed?

Hey guys, last night i decided i would drain the oil from the bug, i then left it drip overnight, cleaned the strainer and plate this morning,
reassembled it all, added some oil (going to flush it soon), replaced the spark plugs and replaced some fuel lines and put some high octane fuel in
it. i then connected a battery however it too low on power (old battery i had) so we jump started it, it took a while as to be expected from a vehicle
that hasn't run in 16 years but eventually got it running. it has a pretty good tone to it as it is and i will upload a video soon.

hey guys, i took the front bumper and indicators out today as well as the headlights with the hope that i could remove the front guard (rusty one)
however i don't know how to remove the headlight cables as the plugs on the end are bigger then the hole, anyone know how to get around this or do i
have to cut the cables?

Hi
You need to release the tangs on the terminals in the block so that the terminals push out of the block, some people cut them of and resolder them on
later.

I have decided to go with the gloss black rims and have used killrust after using a wire brush to remove all the old paint and rust.
also i have bought some rust converter to work on the front guard with, i will then prime it and hopefully get it painted.

Today i finally removed the headlight plugs thanks to Steve. cheers
i removed the front guard, changed my newly painted rim and as i was putting my spare on the back end, i noticed a huge (really big) puddle of oil on
the shed floor... i thought my gasket failed after i changed it when i did the oil, but thats not the case... i think i blew a rear main seal... 
oh well... an excuse to clean up the engine and engine bay...

Just read your thread, good luck with the resto, based on my experience whatever your budget is double it lol. I read earlier that you should get the
car running then do bits and pieces as you go that's exactly what i have done and found it very rewarding, you can click on my link in my signature
to my 69 bug.
different owners have different views on what you should do, I have always listened to advice but in the end it's your car do what you want thats why
no Beetle looks the same.

Thought i'd post i pic of the oil leak
Also I have an old bonnet (rear hood) that is fairly rusty and 2 old bumpers, one is OK but the other is a little rusty also. I Also Have a Front
Guard that is rough but should be able to fix hopefully (no promises) Giving them away other wise i will just scrap them. PM if interested...
Today i cleaned the Tyre well out, cleaned a few rust patches and used some rust converter as well as swap another painted rim over. i will be getting
the necessary equipment tomorrow to clean up the oil. Also checked my air filter... tad bit stuffed : haha just a touch...
Internet is playing up so i will add the other pictures later

Just disassembled the front disk brakes. removed the pads and for some weird reason, 3 pads look dirty, but almost brand new, not really worn, but one
of them looks stuffed, there is not really any thing left of it??? anyone else had a similar issue?
Going to replace the rubber brake lines ASAP as well as all new brake pads... $86 deliverd to my door, no arguing with that...

So I got my rear drum shoes on last night, now I have to change my lines and swap my brake pads over, bought disk pads on eBay and got sent 4wd
ones... Swapping this week.
I have also disconnected (labeled) all the wires running to the engine as I have realized I have blown a main seal whole engine out, to replace it...

So I have changed all my taillight bulbs, cleaned all my seats and vacummed the whole car. I am in the process of removing the engine but the last nut
(behind the engine up top) is a little tight so I'm just spraying it with wd40 a few times and leaving it to soak in...

Finally after ages of waiting I got the time and money to get all new engine gaskets, main seal and socket for the flywheel... Got the engine out and
now I'm having troubles removing the flywheel nut. Anyone know how to remove this? I have tried using a breaker bar with a steel tube to make it even
longer and yet even with my dad standing on it it wouldn't crack, I don't have access to an impact wrench either.
I also got my brake pads and shoes assembled however my brake pedal and master cylinder need replacing :/

get a LONG bit of 2" angle and drill 2 holes in it so as you can bolt it to the fly wheel
That will act as a "brake" on the fly wheel turning while you use the breaker bar on the nut

Thanks for the reply's guys, I currently don't have enough money for the gadget and can't wait as the car must be running in 3 months, however I
shall try the 2" angle, I have just spent today cleaning and respraying my exhaust in mat black engine enamel and will post pics as soon as I can, I
also am having a hard time trying to find a master cylinder for a RHD vw 1303/super beetle, the cheapest I can find is $150 anyone know where I can
find one cheaper?
Will try to keep up the posts.
