The bit of black rubber on the fuel line in the previous pic is just a sleeve, it's all unbroken 5/16" from under the tank and into the engine bay.
Here's the other end, will finish it up when an engine lives there one day, you can just see it running across above the back of the gearbox.

I admit I'm not overly fond of small people, but you guys made me smile. Beats crawling under the car and being licked by a crazy red heeler!

Yank the thing up in the air, that way you can avoid all those sharp pointy rocks under the car, AND you have room to avoid the Heeler!

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc458/MODNROD/VW/P1030608_zpsicdacg2c.jpg

I had a Red Heeler for a while when I lived in Canberra. It would eat all the plums on the ground in spring, then walk sideways drunk across the back lawn.
It was bored stooopid, so I sent it out to a farm near Yass, turned out to be a good dog (had good bloodlines).

Oil Prime Pump

I used to prime new engines up with an accumulator, but saw this idea online somewhere recently and rekn it's a great idea, so here goes......

Weld an old tek bit onto the drive gear shaft, then clean it up and polish the shaft a bit.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc458/MODNROD/VW/VW%20Oil%20Prime%20Pump%201_zps6mveslvl.jpg

Tap some threads into the inlet and outlet holes of an old VW oil pump.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc458/MODNROD/VW/VW%20Oil%20Prime%20Pump%202_zpslfqrjnu4.jpg

Tada! Bolt the cover on top, hook some oil hoses up to your full flow inlet and oil container, then spin it up with a drill to pressurise the oil galleries before starting.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc458/MODNROD/VW/VW%20Oil%20Prime%20Pump%204_zpsk2myyns3.jpg

Cool idea.

You would be amazed what they can come up with at that age. Dave [rear the door] was 7, and Tim 5. Dave got sick of crashing his model plane - a Cox 049. He wanted to make a car, using the 049 engine, and I encouraged them to go ahead, even though I knew it wouldn't work.

When it was all done, they took it up to the hockey field behind our house, I could not believe my eyes...it actually worked like a charm, even on the grass. I will never forget the looks on their faces.

Don't do too much for them, give them a free hand, as even making mistakes can help them learn. Safety first, of course.

WOW...what a find, there's 2 billycarts there !:tu: What I would have given for those wheels when I was that age.

My first billycart had old pram wheels on the front, and old Holden rear wheel bearings on the back. I reckon that's where I learned to drive a Beetle.:smirk:

Hhmmm, on 2nd thought, it might work on your hotrod.

The main bit that lifted was the curved section around the wheelarch, so I redid it straight, it looks more like the '60s stuff now as well I spose.

Anyway, after pressing down again a few times, and having a couple of days to set properly, it's now staying put.

"Flash Kit" NB 2.1...........

Whether it stays on at 130mph is another thing!
Uhhmmm, that'd be your car, NOT mine........
